Susie's formerly long, tied back hair was unbound and chopped to her shoulders, and she had on a dusty red sweater with dark beige sweatpants and deep indigo sneakers. Her hand, from the previous fight with Mr. Wonder, was gone, and in its place was a small nub with a scar.
"Are you two okay?!" she asked, panicked.
Skid and Pump gave no response, other than staring in disbelief at Susie.
They couldn't believe it. She lived. She was saved. They were too stunned to speak.
"Guys, it's me, Susie," the preteen girl smiled. "I know, I look different, but-"
"SUSIE!!!!!!!" Pump squealed tearfully, leaping into his sister's arms and embracing her. Skid also hugged Pump's sister, sobbing in happiness.
"WE MISSED YOU SO MUCH!!!" they both cried.
Susie hugged them back, even though her left hand was gone. "I missed you both too!" she said, also crying.
Their sweet moment was suddenly cut short by police sirens and yelling.
A police car swerved right near them, and John and Jack, the two cops, stepped out and aimed guns at the three kids.
"STEP THE HELL AWAY FROM THE KIDS!!!!!" John shouted at Susie.
"Aaaah! Officers, listen to me!" Skid stammered. "She did the right thing! And besides, there's an infection spreadi-"
"YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO REMAIN SILENT, YOU LITTLE PRICK!!!" Jack yelled. "YOU'RE UNDER ARREST!!!"
"NOOOOO, WE DON'T WANNA GO TO JAIL!" Pump argued. "Please, officers, we're not guilty, we promise!"
"TELL THAT TO THE JUDGE AT THE GATES OF HEAVEN!!!" the cops shouted. Susie scooped up her brother and his friend, and a chase was on.
But wait.
The judge at the gates of heaven?
Susie had a feeling they were infected too.
And she was certainly right when she turned around. They weren't who they used to be earlier anymore.
John's face was melted off, revealing little worms crawling around his bloodstained skull, while Jack's entire torso was torn to the bone, yet there was still some flesh on it.
As the cops fired their guns, Susie dodged each and every one of the bullets flying at her and the kids. Somehow she had such raw talent.
Eventually, they found a hiding spot in a dumpster, and as they peeked out, the cops didn't even notice them. They walked right past them.
When the coast was clear, they quietly leaped out. Susie noticed a ladder that led to the top of a building.
She and Skid started to climb... but Pump couldn't make it up. He was trying to hoist himself up on the rungs of the ladder, but it was no use... especially since the cops were coming back.
Pump had to find another way up, and fast. If Skid or Susie climbed down to fetch him, there wouldn't be enough time.
Fortunately, there was a stairway on another building adjacent to the one with the ladder. Pump quickly ran up the stairs, but by the time he made it up to the roof...
They weren't the same building.
Pump had gotten separated from the two.
This was a very scary experience for him, as he was separated from the last two loved ones in his life.
"GIVE UP ALREADY," Jack shouted through his megaphone. "YOU'RE DONE. THERE'S NO ESCAPE."
John then started climbing up the ladder, about to get to Skid and Susie.
Susie had a nail file, however, and she was cutting at the top of the ladder to tip it over. Skid helped her by cutting the other side with another one she had with her.
Jack ran up the stairs, which was a quicker process than climbing a ladder, to get to Pump.
Once Skid and Susie had sliced the ladder loose, they pushed it, along with John, against the staircase's railing, just as he made it to the top of the ladder, and it split him in half along the midsection upon impact. His severed body fell to the ground with his organs spilling out.
Jack's expression immediately changed to a deranged smile, and he muttered the words, "Officer down... to hell with you too."
He bolted up the stairs and grabbed Pump by the arm and handcuffed him before he could get away.
"PUMP!!!!!" Skid and Susie screamed. Susie grabbed Skid again and jumped off the roof of their building, landed on the ladder, and climbed up quickly to the floor it led to, then ran up the rest of the stairs.
She kicked Jack off the roof, and he fell right through the window into a meat grinder inside of the ladder building, which was revealed to be a butcher's shop.
Susie uncuffed Pump and hugged him again, sobbing just as hard as him and Skid, who hugged each other once again.
Pump's older sister truly was something. She saved the kids twice in a row, both times without a left hand, dodged a flurry of bullets, and who knows what other cool things she'd be able to do?
As the three of them went down the stairs, they went into a nearby abandoned hotel to stay a few nights. After all, they did deserve a break.
