C H A P T E R 3

Stars POV:
The whole lesson I had felt eyes burning through my back but I didn't want to look back because I knew if I did I'd probably get a bit pissed off they're staring at me, it's not like it's a big deal but for some reason the smallest things people do piss me off, I'm like a ticking bomb waiting for someone to hit my last nerve.

After what felt like hours but in reality was probably just 45mins-1hr the bell had rang and it was time for second period.
I made sure I was one of the last people to leave just so I could see who was sitting behind me and yes I know I can't be sure since I wasn't in the very very back but I could get a rough idea on who it was. But I couldn't get a good enough look at who it could've been.
I grabbed my book and pen then put it back in my bag and walked out of the class to see Jayla wack some boy in the back of the head and him walk off.
Once she saw me she had smiled "hey love" she said "hey" I smiled at the nickname "do we not like him or..?" I asked "oh shoot no we do like him, he's my brother, Jaden" "ohhh okay because all I saw was you hit him in the back of the head" "it's just sibling love" she said and she walked towards me putting her arm around my shoulder.
"You want to know why I'm so happy?" She asked "sure" "we have this class together" she smiled looking at me.
Our faces were inches away. I smiled back "yay". She took her arm off from around my shoulder and linked our arms together and started skipping to the next class so of course I skipped along with her.

Third person POV:
Star has kissed a girl before, only once and it wasn't like she is gay or anything it was just that they were both drunk and they were good mates at a Halloween party, I mean yeah it wasn't just a peck it was more of a small make out but nothing serious and they stayed friends after it and nothing had changed their friendship, if anything they had gotten closer.
Star had also kissed boys before, way more than she had girls, so that must be saying something.

Stars POV:
Jayla and I had walked into class on time and sat in the back corner together. "Want an airpod" I had offered Jayla because I did feel a bit rude about having one in and she didn't but thankfully she nodded and I handed her one and we both smiled at eachother, she put in the airpod and we both sat in the back of the class listening to music and gossiping as she was catching me up on everyone so I know who to trust and who not to.

I was extremely thankful for Jayla to be the one who showed me around the school, if I'm being honest I didn't think I'd like anyone here and I'd have to beg my mother to move back to Australia but so fair it hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be, I mean of course I miss my friends but maybe my mums right, it's good for a change to happen even if it's a big change.

20 minutes had passed and the teacher still hasn't shown up, Jayla and I were still sitting in the back trying our hardest not to laugh at the jokes we're making because the rest of the class is extremely quiet. But randomly everyone started grabbing their things and leaving, I looked at Jayla confused "oh it's 20mins into the lesson and the teacher still hasn't shown up so we get to leave" she said smiling as she started to pack up as well. I started packing up and putting my things in my bag.
Jayla and I started walking to our lockers, luckily for me hers was across from mine so I didn't have to be alone for long. She walked to the other side of the hallway still wearing one of my AirPods as she started putting her things in her locker.
It took me a while before i could unlock the locker since I'm still getting used to this kind of lock but eventually I did get it and I put my book in there as Jayla came up behind me. "God you need to decorate your locker" she told me staring into my locker.
I mean yeah it did look sad because it only had my one book in it and a snack or 2.
"This weekend are you free?" She asked and I just nodded "good I'm taking you to decorate your locker" she said and smiled "okay" I said slightly laughing. "Come with me" she grabbed my hand pulling me along with her and taking me to a 'secret' room but it looked really nice there was a couch, bean bags, a table with chairs and a small little tv. "Does American schools usually have these things" I asked and she shook her head "nobody really knows it's here apart from my brothers and some of my friends, the teachers have even forgot it's here. anddddd we can vape in here because there isn't any cameras" she said smiling as she dropped her bag and jumped on the couch and patted the spot next to her.
I half smiled and dropped my bag next to hers then sat on the spot next to hers, she pulled her vape out of her bra and started taking hits of it so I did the same.
"So what's Australia like" she asked me and readjusted herself so she was facing me properly. I readjusted myself as well and began talking.
"Well it's definitely something I mean don't get me wrong it's an amazing place like I love it there I usually felt safe but you definitely have to be careful around certain areas. We like to call them the 'junkie areas' or 'eshay areas'" "eshay?" She asked.
"Someone who thinks they're top shit and walks around with bumbags usually in tracksuits, does gang signs and tries to fight everyone for the stupidest reasons. I mean I've seen so many fights and fight videos of just at my school or people from my school it's not even funny" I said "damnn" she said taking another hit of her vape and I did the same but with mine. We moved back into our original positions looking up at the roof.

Jayla and I talked for awhile and were just messing around waiting for lunch to come. "Do your parents know you vape?" Jayla asked "my mum does, she buys them for me but my dad doesn't but he also isn't in my life anymore so he doesn't really get a say in what I do, do yours?" "Oh god no" she says "also if you're having any troubles at home you can always stay with me." Jayla spoke softly, I turned to look at her and she looked at me, we both smiled at eachother "the same goes for you" I replied to her and we both looked at the roof.

We both went quiet occasionally taking hits of our vapes, the quiet wasn't awkward or anything, if anything it was calming and comfortable.
I turned to face her and once she noticed me move she did too "Do you smoke weed?" I asked her, she just smirked and nodded "I can tell we're gonna be good friends" I said to her and she nodded along and we started laughing.

After a while the bell rang mentioning it was time for lunch so Jayla and I put our vapes in our bras grabbed our bags and walked out to get food before anybody could see the 'secret' spot. She took me to the cafeteria where everyone else was and where her friends are. "I want you to meet my brothers" she said and took my hand and guided me through the cafeteria trying to avoid running into people.
We got there and she sat down and pulled me down next to her "Javon, Jaden meet Star, Star meet Javon and Jaden" Jayla said in an attempt to introduce us to eachother. Jaden held his hand out "nice to meet you Star" I shook his hand "nice to meet you too" Javon held his hand out as well "it's good to meet you Star" I shook his hand "good to meet you too" they both smiled at me and then Jayla stood up "I'm hungry so I'm gonna get food, Star you coming ?" She asked "yeah I am" I stood up "we're gonna go back to the spot after we get our food so if you need us we're in there" Jayla said to them and grabbed my hand again I waved bye to the boys and followed her to the lunch line.
"I hope you don't mind going to the spot I just like it there" Jayla said "of course I don't mind, I don't really have any other friends here so who else would I hang out with" "fair enough" we looked at eachother and smiled widely.
Third person POV:
Star had never smiled this much before I mean she has but not this much in such a short amount of time.
Star has a bit of trouble trusting people with secrets but with Jayla something just feels different, it's almost like if the whole world was going to end Stars mind would immediately race to Jayla to see if she was okay.
Her smile was captivating, somethings she's never seen before, Jayla just feels... different.
