Chapter Eight: Never Imagined
Charlie's point of view
I'd watched Rhett storm back behind the doors leading to the back, my head turned towards the booth that the Teller brothers were sitting at, that didn't look like it went well, I huffed and looked back towards the back, I stepped around the counter pushing the door open and I walked down the hallway and I peaked into the break room leaning against the doorway.
"You okay?" I asked.
Rhett huffed looking at me. "Frustrated, what is it about men that just makes them stupid?" she questioned.
I let out a laugh stepping into the break room. "Biological makeup." I answered. "I mean it's a proven fact that women are smarter than men." I shrugged my shoulders. Rhett looked at me sighing.
"I know we don't know each other that well, but did something happen?" I leaned against the table.
Rhett took a deep breath shaking her head. "I don't know, I thought it was something maybe it was nothing, Thomas kissed me yesterday when he came over, like full on kissed me and then when it was all said and done, he told me that he'd wanted to do that since we were kids, then went on to say that it wasn't a big deal it was just a kiss, like what the fuck?" she ranted.
My eyes grew wide as I heard this, I tilted my head to the side. "Well, it's definitely obvious that he likes you." I pointed out. Rhett looked at me. "what?" she asked shocked. I laughed a little. "You hadn't noticed?"
Rhett started shaking her head quickly. "No, no I hadn't does everyone see it?" she questioned.
I shrugged. "Don't know, but I can....and the reason why he probably said it was just a kiss not a big deal is the fear of rejection, men have a fear of rejection when they do something that they're unsure of, so he switched it up and is now playing the 'I don't give a shit' card." I said using air quotes.
Rhett groaned. "I told him we needed to talk about it but he said no basically."
I frowned. "Men are weird Rhett, trust me, they're very weird, I say talk to him about it even if he doesn't want to hear it, I mean did you like it?" I questioned.
Rhett gave me a look, and with just that look I knew she did. "I don't want it ruining our friendship, I've known him since we were little." She groaned out.
"Well, you never know, it could be the best thing that happened to you or the worst." I shrugged. "You won't know unless you give it a shot." I told her honestly. Rhett ran her hand through her blonde hair.
"What else is bothering you?" I questioned, I got the feeling it wasn't just the kiss.
Rhett huffed. "Jax, ever friend that I've ever had that was a girl, he or Thomas has slept with, more so Jax than Thomas, and I told him that he needed to keep his dick In his pants because I actually want to be friends with you." She stated.
I couldn't help but laugh and I started shaking my head. "Wow, guess he's jealous because we're hanging out tonight, has he ever been turned down? Like ever?"
"Nope." Rhett said standing to her feet. "You're the first one to turn him down." Rhett stated.
Wow, that was honestly shocking. "Jesus." I tilted my head to the side. "I can assure you though, I'm not looking for a relationship Rhett, I need to be alone right now, and he looks like trouble and I don't need trouble." Rhett cocked her eyebrow at me. "Come on, we got tables and you gotta take their order. Just slap a smile on and go from there. Act like it doesn't affect you." I said patting her shoulder.
Rhett nodded and we headed back to the front.
Jax and Thomas were still there and Rhett walked over like a different woman taking their order, I smiled to myself and grabbed two of the orders that were waiting and I walked off to serve them.
