Chapter Three: Not all the same.
Charlotte's Point of View
I had watched as the girl Rhett left the diner in a hurry with the guy I had bumped into, I think his name was Thomas or something. I felt for the girl and hoped everything worked out for her. I was a little shocked that she and I had something in common; which was lack of a relationship with our fathers, but for me it was both of my parents not just the one. I glanced towards Rhett's section and saw that the blonde guy who had been flirting with me wasn't there anymore.
Huh, maybe he went to the restroom. Part of me wondered if he dined and dashed though. If it happened it'd be coming out of mine or Rhett's paycheck, but I doubt he'd do that to her if he knew Rhett.
I shrugged my shoulders and cleared off some plates that were left on the counter by some customers that had left a few minutes ago.
"Lookin for me darlin?" I heard a voice.
Turning my head slightly I saw the blonde hair out of the corner of my eye, a ball cap on his head turned backwards, and a shit eating grin on his face, he was trouble, definitely trouble and I'm sure that smirk that he was giving me got him into a lot of girls beds, but I wasn't that type of person and I really didn't need any kind of relationship right now....with anyone.
"Nope, I have no reason to look for you." I stated and started wiping down the counter with my rag.
The blonde sat down at the counter and placed his hand over his heart acting like I'd just wounded him. "Ouch, and here I thought we could be friends." His eyes trailed to the name tag that was clipped to my shirt then back up at me giving me another heart skipping grin. "Charlie."
I stopped wiping down the counter and tilted my head to the side. "Friends, huh? You sure you're not trying to use that there grin to try and get into my pants?" I motioned to his face. "If you are, you're wasting your time, because I'm not interested." I stated simply.
It was best for me just to end it before it even had the time to begin. I really wasn't interested. I came here to start a new life, and by starting that new life it didn't in any way mean starting up a relationship with the town bad boy who by the way had every woman here wrapped around his finger. It was hard to miss the looks the other waitresses were giving him and Thomas when they were eating.
I refused to be one of those women.
I had enough problems right now.
The look on his face never changed. Before he could speak though the bell above the door dinged and I turned my head and saw Mrs. Rhylee walking in and I smiled.
"Hey, Mrs. Rylee." I was happy she'd walked in. I didn't know if I was going to be able to handle the rest of this conversation with the blonde, because part of me was weak and part of me wanted to jump at the offer to go off with him but that was the irrational part that loved and missed danger.
"Hi sweetheart." Mrs. Rylee flashed me a smile and she sat down at the counter, the blonde looked at her and gave her a sweet smile. "Mrs. Rylee, haven't saw you in a long time. How's the car? Still running good?" he asked.
I frowned slightly at him, he knew Mrs. Rylee? I looked at the older woman and she looked at him. "Well if it isn't Jackson Teller, motorcycle riding hooligan, and yes my car still runs perfect thank you." She said giving him a smile then she looked at me then back at him, so his name was Jackson...okay then.
"Oh, Jackson...this is my neighbor Charlotte." Mrs. Rylee motioned to me with her hand and I clenched my jaw and he looked at me with a slight smirk.
