The flesh is stubborn. However, we've have got to train our spirit to rule over it. In Romans 6:16-19 it lists out the things God hates;

"These six things the Lord hates, indeed, seven are an abomination to Him:

A proud look [the spirit that makes one overestimate himself and underestimate others], a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,(D)

A heart that manufactures wicked thoughts and plans, feet that are swift in running to evil,

A false witness who breathes out lies [even under oath], and he who sows discord among his brethren."
T

hese are the things God hates and we must stay away from them. We can't do this on our own. However, we need grace and his grace is always sufficient for us.

Just as it is written in the Bible, Jesus said; The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.

"All of you must keep awake (give strict attention, be cautious and active) and watch and pray, that you may not come into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." Matthew 26:41

As mentioned above, these are the things our flesh makes us do though the spirit is willing to overcome but we tend to be weak. We need the fruits of the spirit to help us. And by having these fruits, we must be sincerely born again (i.e confessing Jesus as your Lord and personal saviour.) After doing so, we have to therefore work out our salvation with fear and trembling. Philippians 2:12

In a nutshell, we must die to the flesh everyday and renew our mind continually with God's word. Romans 12:2
