Altair's P.O.V.

I awoke to the sounds of a battle in the hall. Zhosa was nowhere to been seen. Even the soft lure of her sent was tainted by blood.

Leaping to my feet I ran into the hall unsheathing my sword. Fanteriso was there in his human form his broad shoulders covered with a fine leather. A sword in his massive calloused hands whizzing through flesh and armour.

Leaping onto the man nearest my I punctured his lungs, instantly lunging towards the next guard.

I gasped as a flash of the Templars Cross caught my eye. "Where have you taken her?" I shouted knowing it was pointless.

The man who I had stabbed in the lung laughed. "Why," he coughed staining his shirt with blood. "Why should we tell you Altair? The only chance you stand is to watch her die, followed swiftly by your own death."

In a uncontrollable moment of pure rage I lifted the man high into the air. "What did you do?" I shouted, but the man was already dead.

I released the man turning to Fanteriso who was also covered in blood his eyes accusing. "You lead them here." His words cut deeper than any words before them. "You let them take her."

He was shockingly calm.

I chocked on air as I tried to explain that it was never my intention. That I had tried to protect her. But it was no use. Fanteriso had turned away and was leaving the cave likely in search of his master.

"Fanteriso wait!" I called running out after him. He turned the anger and frustration evident on his face. "I want to help you Fanteriso. I won't let those vile men hurt her."

He smirked somewhat before muttering something I didn't understand under his breath. "Alright, go find a horse. I'll fly ahead and see what I can find." And just like that he was gone. Already taking on the form of the great eagle, powering through the air.

It felt strange. I was taking orders from a man who I barely knew. If I didn't know him I wouldn't have believed he existed. Absent minded I ran down the streets dodging people left and right ignoring the stares from the other members of the Brotherhood.

I slid to a stop when I reached the gates of the city. Something wasn't right about Fanteriso. Slowly I walked through the gates out into the countryside. When I found Zhosa once again I would determine once and for all just why the Templars were hunting them. Because if there was one thing I knew about Templars, it's that they don't do anything without a purpose.

Careful to avoid being suspected of treachery I mounted the nearest horse and began riding down the trail.
