they stood in a clearing, watching aang play with groundhogs, making sokka annoyed. he stood next to his sister and girlfriend who was holding her pet, stumpy.
"this is great and all, but don't we have more important things to worry about? we should be making plans." sokka said.
"we did make plans. we're all picking mini-vacations." toph responded.
"there's no time for vacations."
then aang spoke up, "im learning the elements as fast as i can. i practice hard everyday with toph, senna and katara. i've been training my arrow off!"
"yeah, what's wrong with having a little fun?" senna asked, placing down stumpy as he chased around a butterfly.
"even if you do master all four elements, then what? it's not like we have a map of the fire nation. should we just head west until we reach the fire lords house? knock, knock, hello, fire lo-" sokka stopped short, thought for a second then continued, "hey, wait a minute. maybe we do have a map of the fire nation."
he turned toward his girlfriend who was too focused on stumpy, "babe, you wouldn't happen to know your way around?"
"um, sokka. i lived in the north pole all my life never once went to the fire nation." she told the boy, "stumpy not so far!" she shouted at the animal who was running away.
"stumpy!"
sokka sighed, "well never mind that."
"listen, let's do our vacations, and then we'll concentrate on the fire lord." katara said, the others agreeing on the plan.
aang opened a map, "your turn, katara. where would you like to go on your mini-vacation?"
she looked at the map and then pointed at some random spot, "how about the misty palms oasis? that sounds refreshing."
"oh yeah, definitely." senna smiled, showing stumpy the map, "stumpy can try swimming for the first time!" she giggled, earning weird glances from the group.
"okay...." she awkwardly backed up and hopped ontop of appa.
"i've been there. it's a pristine natural ice spring. and i usually don't use the word "pristine" it's one of natures wonders."
the gaang agreed and they all joined senna on appa. once they arrived to the oasis, they were unpleasantly surprised. it was dry and ugly.
