Violet's POV

"Violet, allow me to introduce you to Caspian's mother, Milan Federa."

Oh! When Jasper had lead me into the infirmary, my heart rate had picked up. Had something happened to Jon? My imagination had ran away with me, and I'd thought up a million different possible scenarios, each equally as ridiculous as the next. But when Jasper took my hand and lead me into the room of the woman who had just given birth, I couldn't stop the jaw-splitting grin that invaded my lips. I wasn't sure why I was so excited to meet the Beta's mother, but I already felt connected to her somehow.

A soft hand took mine. "It is nice to meet the girl who finally managed to tame Jasper."

I smirked at my mate, and then glanced back down at the quite exquisite woman on the hospital bed. She had long brown curls and an olive finish to her skin that looked slightly Native American. Her eyes were cat-like and very wise, as if they held in them stories of many centuries.

"You seem to have tamed the Alpha yourself, Miss Federa." I gave her a playful smile and her green eyes twinkled before she could no longer hold in her laughter.

"Please, Luna, call me Milan."

I beamed at her. "Only if you call me Violet."

"Deal." She smiled and nodded, squeezing my hand slightly.

Yes, I felt the connection. Already, Milan felt like the motherly figure that I had never really had.

I stood up for a moment and walked to the baby's crib. My heart swelled with pure adoration as I looked at her. Tears filled my eyes as the tiny bundle returned my gaze with innocence and a promise of unconditional love. "She's so beautiful," I murmured, kneeling down next to the crib. The baby's hair was already quite thick and caressed her head in brown locks, just like her mother's although she was notably much paler than her mother. Her eyes were a slightly murky brown, not yet a fixed colour, and her little button nose flared slightly as I looked at her.

"May I hold her?" I asked Milan, my voice thick with emotion. I don't know why I was so emotional, but I suspected that it had something to do with my parents, and wondering if they had looked at me in this same way when I had entered this world. And, of course, the fact that I would never know the answer.

"Of course, sweetheart. Just be careful of her spine. Newborns are extremely sensitive."

I picked the baby up at Milan's first words and held the tiny bundle in my arms. She was so light, so... Perfect.

"Have you named her yet?" I asked, looking up momentarily. Both Milan and Jasper were staring at me with smiles on their faces, Milan's one of pride and Jasper's one of pure adoration.

"Yes, dear. Her name is Kathryn."

Kathryn. I gazed down at the tiny bundle stretched over my two palms and thought that the name couldn't have suited her more.

"She will be quite the heartbreaker when she grows up," I smiled, meeting Milan's gaze and she smiled back her agreement.

"And very spoilt I'm sure," Milan murmured lightly, her eyes betraying the unconditional love she held for Kathryn.

The little baby in my arms began to cry and I pulled her close to me. "Shh, little kitten. It's alright." Softly, I rocked her back and forth, all the while clutching her sensitive skull protectively. Then I began to sing ever so quietly, and Kathyrn's ears perked up. Curious, she stopped crying and twisted to find the source of the soft sound. Her small face found mine, and then she beamed at me, a toothless, adorable smile that made my heart clench. God, that beautiful, unsuspecting innocence. It made me want to cry and sing and dance all at the same time.
