The Sketchbook

Class

Luz POV

I had woken up to my alarm blaring in my ear. I groaned getting out of my comfy bed and embracing the cold. I quickly put on the clothes I had laid out that morning. I hated the mornings. I went downstairs after grabbing my bookbag and of course, my sketchbook. I decided to leave Mami a note saying I would be walking that morning.

I went outside and started walking to my new school, Hexside. I had arrived in no less than ten minutes. I was walking and I zones out. I accidentally bumped into someone. She had mint-green hair and a beautiful face and pale skin. I made a mental note to draw her later. I hopped up "Oh my titan! I am so sorry!" I said, helping her up. "Watch it, next time Nitwit!" She said pointing her finger in my face. I cowered a bit and my ears went down. Her expression softened for a second but she did well by covering it up. She walked away and I continued walking towards the office.

I arrived at the office shortly later and was greeted by a man with a demon on his head. "Hello, Luz Noceda. I am Principal Bump. Choose a coven track and we shall get started." He said directing his hand towards the coven posters on the walls. (By the way, you could do any mixed tracks in this.).  "I'll do all of them. I managed in my old school." I said looking Bump in the eyes. "The only person to ever do every track is Amity Blight. Are you sure about this?" He said looking at me like I was weak. I nodded and he reluctantly changed my once white clothes multi-colored.

I left the office and made my way to my first class, Abominations. As soon as I walked in I saw the green-haired girl again. I then realized the only seat open was beside her. I walked up to her and sat down beside her. We were early so we could do what we wanted for the time being. I pulled out my sketchbook and started drawing. I looked back over at the girl now and then to make sure it was perfect. I was adding some small touches when I heard "Wow... That is good.". "Uhh...thanks..." I said to her, not looking her in the eyes. "I'm Amity. And you are?" Amity said. "Luz...I'm Luz..." I said still uneasy from the earlier encounter. I heard her sigh. "Look, I'm not going to harm you in any way, alright." She said, kinda sounding threatening. I nodded and she went back to doing her thing. I gently took out the drawing and handed it to her. She took it and put it in her bookbag, making sure not to damage it.

The teacher came into the class shortly after everyone arrived. "Today class we will be learning how to summon an emotion abomination." The teacher said. He summoned an abomination with what looked to be a bored emotion. Some people laughed some stayed quiet, taking notes. "Abomination, cower." The teacher said and the abomination disappeared. "Would anyone like to give it a shot?" He said. I raised my hand and drew a circle in the air. "Abomination, rise." I said when an abomination with a yellow aura surrounding it. I sat back down feeling drained. It must have showed because Amity looked at me with concern. "Well done Luz! You added more emotion to that than any other witch I've known." The teacher said looking impressed. All I could do was nod. He went back to the lesson and I just zoned out.

Class had ended not long after I had used the emotion abomination. Turns out I had the same scedgule as Amity. I thought I would pass out at any given moment. Next we had P.E. where we had to play a game called catch the Jackolope. "Alright now once I realise the Jackolope you all have to go catch it. All magic goes." The P.E. Teacher said. We nodded and they opened the cage door and the jackolope ran out. I was the first one off. Turns out I was faster than everyone so I had an advantage. I caught up to the jackolope and jumped on it. I ended up over-powering the jackolope and I led him back to his cage. I looked back at everyone and their mouths were wide open even the P.E. teachers. "What, do I have something in my hair?" I said trying to see if anything was in my hair. "No body has ever caught Jack, not even me!" The P.E. teacher said. Everyone nodded "Well I'm the first. Now can we do that again, it was to easy." I said and the P.E. teacher came back with what looked to be a jaglion (acctucully exists and is in this book a bit bigger than Luz.). "Now this is a challenge." I said smirking. The teacher opened the cage and the jaglion ran out. I ran after it, surprisingly, running faster than it. I caught up to it and tackled it. We rolled in the dirt for a bit till I over-powered it and too, led it back to it's cage. Everyone's jaw was practically touching the ground. I chuckled and the bell than rang.

I went into the changing rooms and chose a stall. I went inside and changed out of my clothes. I took off my shirt and was reminded of a memory by a scar.

Flashback  

I was walking back towards my house when I saw the three biggest bullys in Glandus. Jacob, Mathew, and Smith. "Where do you think you're going freak." Jacob, the ring leader, said. "Home now leave me alone Jacob." I said trying to walk by them. "Not so fast. No body leaves when I'm talking to them." Jacob said, now taking out a switchblade. He walked up to me while his goons held my arms. He took the blade and started from my stomach and down to my hip. I cried out in pain as he added pressure to the spot his knife was. He didn't do it hard enough to kill me, just enough to where I would have a scar. His goons let go of me "Stay out of my way freak or else." He said wiping the blood off of his knife. He and his goons walked away leaving me in so much pain.

Flashback Ended

I sighed, putting my shirt on and leaving the stall. I was about to leave the changing room when I saw Amity running up to me. "How in the name of titan did you catch a jaglion!? Did you cheat?!" Amity said, pointing a finger in my face. My ears went down and I backed away a bit."I-I didn't cheat. I've always been good at that stuff..." I said as she slowly retracted her finger. I turned around and started walking towards my next class, potions. "I'm sorry elbow..." I said to myself.

'This is going to be a long day' I thought.
