"I feel better so I'm going to school." I told Kol again.

"Do you really feel better or do you just want to see Stefan, your crush who you do not want to date?" He teased me and I felt my face heat up with embarrassment.

"Shut up besides Stefan and I have many things in common like brothers who are annoying and terrible father's."

"I don't think you should be bonding over terrible father's."

"So we can bond over our annoying brothers." I asked jokingly.

He smiled and three a pillow at my head but missed because I moved my head.

"I'm glad you're feeling better, Nik."

"Me too Kol " I replied with heavy evidence in my accent.

We grabbed our bags and headed into the kitchen.

"Feeling better?" Finn asked me as he handed us our lunch for the day.

"Yeah." I replied as I grabbed my lunch bag.

"Alright go before you are late." He said rushing us out of the house.

Kol and I headed out meeting up with Stefan halfway through.

"Hey." I replied when I noticed him walking towards us.

"Hey." He replied a little out of breath.

"Hey." Kol said, raising his eyebrows suggestively and I gave him a look.

Stefan and I were walking really close together and I could feel my heart pounding so fast I swear I was going to die. I ended up getting to school not dying so I guess I survived.

Although that profound feeling of fondness was very short lived much like my reaction to what happened at lunch.

"Hey, can I tell you something important Klaus?" It had started with.

"Ok." I replied.

I wished I didn't because I don't want to break his heart.

"I, I um," his nervousness was the first thing I noticed." I like you Klaus."

"Aren't friends supposed to like you?" I knew what he meant but I knew if it was admitted I was going to evade.

"Yeah but like I admire you in a way friends aren't supposed to admire each other."

I wanted to tell him I like him too but I knew I couldn't.

"Like in a way lovers do."

"Stefan I,"I wanted to tell him but I couldn't," I, I have to, I have to go do something but we can talk later."

I ran away as fast as I could and shipped the rest of my classes to a place no one knew anything about.

I was going to tell him after school today or tomorrow but I just had to figure out how.

So much for a good day.

-

"Stefan."I called out as I saw him in the busy building,"can we talk?"

"Why, so you can leave me again?" He replied but stopped walking.

"It's not like that." I argued.

"What is it like then because I know you like me too. Best friends don't stare at each other like you stare at me and you know it." He replied, looking me in the eyes.

"I know and  I do like you more than you will ever know and I do wish we could date." I declared as I noticed the halls were finally empty.

"Why does it feel like there's a but coming after that?"

"But I can't date you and that breaks my heart as it does yours. But if I can't accept me for liking you, could it really be a happy relationship?" I clarified.

"I will wait until you're ready."

"You don't know how long that will be."

"If you are able to admit your profoundness to me then I believe you will be within acceptance before junior year and I'll be here for you."

"Thank you," I smiled,"you have no idea how much that means to me."

We walked out of the building a few minutes later to find Damon, who I only met once, with Elijah accompanying him.

"You skipped all of your classes after lunch." Elijah said in a more of your in trouble voice than a question voice.

"In my defense I had valid reasons."

"Is valid reasons standing next to you " Damon asked looking at Stefan

"Can we just go home?" I asked and looked at Elijah.

"I second that." Stefan added.

"Fine, give me your phone." He commanded.

"What." I asked in a dumb voice.

"You tell me why you skipped or you give me your phone."

"Can't I tell you at home or in the car." I complained looking at him in a silent plea. It always worked for me.

"Fine, but you have to help make dinner."

"You would let me near the kitchen after what happened last time?" I asked in a serious tone.

"What happened last time?" Stefan asked me.

"I almost burned the house down." I explained.

"Stop being over dramatic and get in the car." Elijah told me.

I gave Stefan one last look before I walked off. I was definitely in trouble but I didn't really mind all that much.
