It happened again. it was starting to become like a routine. every now and then something bad would happen, their hearts would stop or slow down, Jeralt was beginning to get scared. because of how many times it happened, he was even lucky they were both still alive to this day. the only reason he was scared because, what if one day, one of them doesn't make it or they both don't make it. he shook his head, scoffing. he can't keep thinking like this. so he sighed, getting up from his bed to splash his face with some cold water. once he came back to check the time he realized it was time to get the twins ready for their lessons today. everyday Jeralt wakes the two up at 5 in the morning. even though he doesn't start lessons until 7:30, he wants to make them ready and use to schedules such as these ones. he sighed once again, setting the towel down on his bed before going toward Byleth's room. he knocked softly before walking in. he hummed, looking at him as he was connected to this machine with a bunch of wires, his body flinching as it jolted him. it was like this every day and they only got worse. the doctors said that soon enough, they won't be able to help them, because they've done all they can. they went through surgery, had implants, transplants, and they take pills everyday. it was unfortunate, but that was just the sad reality of life, nothing is ever fair. he shook his head, walking over to him and shaking him gently. "wake up kid, it's almost the weekend just a few more days" he said as the boy hummed, opening his eyes slowly. "oh, morning.." he mumbled tiredly. "good morning, now get ready and wake your sister up while i prepare breakfast. and remember, you guys have an appointment today with Dr. William today" the boy groaned. "i'm tired of seeing him" he chuckled. "trust me, i am too. and so is he but hey, hopefully this time he's finally found something" the boy sighs. "hopefully.." Jeralt frowned, but nonetheless shook it off before heading his way downstairs to the kitchen.

as the two made there ways downstairs, looking tired or annoyed as always, he chuckled, ruffling their hair before sliding their plates over as he sipped his coffee. "so, wanna know what todays lesson will be?" they shrugged, looking at him. "oh wake up you two, we've been doing this for almost 3 years" beth sighed. "is it a physical exercise?" she asked, hoping he'd say yes. "nope! we did that on Tuesday, it's Thursday today so take another guess" he said, taking another sip of his coffee before he hears byleth sigh. "let me guess... The History of Fódlan and how it came to be?" Jeralt nodded, setting his cup of coffee down. "yes, exactly" beth groaned. "daaad, can't we just do language instead?" he chuckled. "well technically, it's going to be a mix of both because today is your final day on it, and you'll have to complete a test and write a five page essay in detail of what you learned, how it made you feel, what happened when Fódlan separated, all that stuff" she groaned once again. "can we at least use our notes and books?" byleth asked and Jeralt shook his head with a smirk. "you two are my children, you shouldn't have to use those" Byleth nodded. "yes but it would be easier" he then shook his head. "nope. but, whoever gets the most answers correct gets to choose the next subject for history. "i wanna learn more about the Leicester alliance, when we did that one chapter on them, it seemed really interesting" Byleth said, taking a bite of his toast. "i'd rather learn more about Faerghus and why all that crap started with Duscur" Byleth choked, laughing as jeralt gave her a stern look. "did i permit you to talk like that? especially with your mouth full?" he asked as she shook her head. "fineee finee, sorry" he nodded before continuing to talk. "i have an idea, why don't we just learn about all of the countries individually" the two then looked at each other, shrugged, and looked back at Jeralt to nod. "okay, i'll get the paper's ready tonight and we'll start next week" they nodded, continuing to eat their food. "alright, i'll go get ready, you two do that as well once you're done" he said, making his way back upstairs.

They finally handed in their tests and essays, at around 12. before he looked at them he check the time. "ah, it's almost time for your appointment guys, i'll read these later let's go" he said, placing the papers on his desk and walking to the front door. he was excited to say the least, hoping that they had finally found a cure. the twins weren't so optimistic, as usual when it comes to these appointments. because every appointment they say the same things. 'we will try to find out whats wrong, so come back in a week or so for the results' they sighed, putting their shoes on, following Jeralt to the car. "oh come on guys, don't look so sad, i have a good feeling about today"

they all waited in the Doctors office as awkward elevator music played. The twins were on their phones as Jeralt was reading a pamphlet on healthier eating. "huh, did you know that-" before he could finish his sentence the doctor walked in with his clipboard. "hello guys, glad to see you make it again, sorry i was late, a patient of mine was-" he stopped, looking at their bored expressions. "right.. well anyways i have the results" he said, pushing up his glasses and grabbing the papers, handing it over to them, a nervous smile formed on his face. "this.. says you haven't found anything.." Jeralt said confused as the doctor nodded. "yeah.. i'm sorry guys, you are nice people and you deserve an easy life but... we just can't help you anymore.." he said, clasping his hands together, looking at Jeralt. "but you said-" before he could finish, beth stormed off, dropping the papers on the floor. Byleth sighed, excusing himself before going out to look for her.

it took about 5 minutes before he found her, and once he did, she was outside, crying over the balcony. Beth hardly ever cried, but whenever she did, it had to be a really good reason. he frowned, walking over to her to rub her back. "sissy?..." she sighed, taking a deep breath before wiping her tears. "yeah?" he sniffled before hugging her, resting his head on her chest. "it's okay byby... we're gonna be okay..." he cries silently, mumbling into her shirt. "but sissy.. you're crying.." beth chuckles softly, rubbing his head before lifting him off of her. "byby... when sissy says it gonna be okay, believe me alright?" she said, cupping his face to wipe his tears. "now don't be so sad, smile for sissy" he smiled, sniffling again. "that's my pretty boy, now don't worry. we'll figure something out, just trust me" he nodded, looking down, the sad expression remaining on his face.
