So, prince Merlin au, but he's technically not a prince rn? Not bc he ran away or anything tho. So, he's biologically the great grandson of some great king of wherever, but his grandad ran away to marry a village girl, his grandma. They had his dad, Balinor, but didn't tell him ab how he's a prince. First mistake.
The first born son into their family gets a curse of sorts, a knife. Only they can wield it, and it must be used to kill someone close to you, but can be overridden if the person has stronger magic then the woman who made the curse. Balinor unknowingly continued it when he accidentally killed his childhood friend Edward while showing it to him.
What happens when it's Merlin's turn? Will his magic be strong enough to overcome it?
