Chapter 4

A/n sorry it took so long to update. I can't promise to be better but if I can't update once a week then I will at least try once a month. Now just so everyone is clear I do not own Naruto or the plot. I only own Kaiya and any other characters I may create.

Kaiya's pov

I wake up to the feeling of my bed shaking. Once I open my eyes I see that it wasn't my bed but my dad shaking my shoulder. I slap his hand away and curl back up ready for more sleep.

"Kaiya, you need to get up so you can go running with Gai."

"*Groan* why don't you go running with him? You can make it one of your stupid contests."

"*Sigh* This is supposed to be your training. If you don't want to get up by choice I will have to force you."

My eyes shoot open and I scramble to get out of bed. "I'm up! I'm up!" My dad is faster than the eye can see when performing jutsu and he is not above using a small water jutsu on me to get me out of bed.

He gives me a closed eye smile and says "That's what I thought."

Once I'm standing by my bed I take a good look at my dad. He is still in his pajama pants. He has no shirt on and no mask or head band. "Are you going back to bed?"

"Hmm? Oh no I just got up and thought you should get up and get ready. I'm going to get ready as soon as I finish eating breakfast."

I groan when he mentions breakfast. I know I should eat but since I know my new teammates won't be eating I plan on skipping as well. It's not going to be fun running around the village with Gai-Sensei and then fighting my dad for those stupid bells.

"Before I let you get dressed I want your opinion on something." I look at my dad with a 'go on' look. "What do you think your team will do during the test? You were listening to their thoughts yesterday so you have an idea about how they will act. I want to see if you have the same idea I have."

"*Sigh* I feel like they won't understand what the test is about. They will go their separate ways in order to take the bells. Naruto believes he'll have to do everything by himself. Sasuke is arrogant and thinks everyone is beneath him so the thought of working with someone that could slow him down won't even cross his mind. Sakura is so... obsessed with Sasuke. She won't pay any attention to Naruto or me. I doubt she will even fight you. She will be to busy following Sasuke and worrying about him." I cross my arms over my chest. "They don't understand what it takes to be Shinobi. They don't know that each mission could possibly be your last. The first mission outside of the village for these three will be quite the rude awakening for them."

I think back to my first mission outside of the village. It was an escort mission with my dad and Asuma. That was the first time I came face to face with death. Don't get me wrong we protected our client. It's just that the rogue Shinobi had to be killed since they wouldn't stop attacking us. I'm sad to say that I actually killed one of them.

As if knowing what I was thinking about, my dad puts his hand on my head and ruffles my hair, making my bed head worse. "Don't forget that it could've been you that went down that day. I'm sorry you had to take a life but in our line of work it sometimes can't be helped when protecting yourself, your client, or your team."

"I know dad. It's just that I still see his face sometimes you know."

"I know pup. I know." Dad pulls me to him for a hug. "For me it's all the people I've lost. But I still have you with me. And you're staying here with me until you're 30, only then are you allowed to move out."

I pull away and give my dad an amused look. "You know you're going to be ready to kick me out into my own apartment way before then."

"Uh-huh whatever you say pup. Now get ready." He says and ruffles my hair again.

"Ok, ok just stop making my hair worse." I push his hand away and he chuckles and walks out of my room, closing the door behind him.

I walk over to my dresser and get some clothes that would be good for training. (A/n image above) I think I like this outfit better than the one TenTen picked out for me.

Once I have all my clothes I go to the bathroom and wash my face and brush my teeth and hair. I do my morning business and change out of my pajamas into the clothes I picked out.

I go back to my bedroom after I get dressed and put my weapons pouch on my left hip and the bandages and kunai pouch on my right leg. I grab my mask and my headband and go to the kitchen.

I sit across from my dad at the table and tie my headband around my left leg. I pull my mask on and take four apples out of the bowl that's in the center of the table. I could see my dad looking at me out of the corner of my eye while I wrapped the apples in cloth before tucking them into my hip pouch.

"Alright dad, I'm off to meet Gai-Sensei at the gate for my laps. I'll meet you at the training grounds. Try not to be too late, and if you are come up with a believable excuse."

"Enjoy your run pup."

I get up and grab a water bottle out of the fridge, give my dad a kiss on his cheek and go to the door and put my sandals on. Once I'm outside and shut the door behind me, I jump away heading towards the village gate.

A/n: I'm going to stop here. The next chapter will be the team survival exercise. I am skipping the laps around the village because it may be kinda boring to talk about them just running around the village. I wanted to get in some nice father, daughter time before the bell test. I hope you enjoyed.
