Sitting on the floor of the kitchen, Hinata stared at the hand movements that Kukki made. He brought his right hand up to his cheek, fluttering his fingers on the skin.
“When?” Hinata tilted his head as Kukki started the next sign. He lifted his hand, pointing at Hinata and making the boy chuckle. “You. When are you?”
Kukki nodded, starting the next sign. He held up his right pinky and thumb, placing his left fingers in front of the hand before thrusting his right hand up.
Laughing, Hinata smiled. “Going. It’s such a dramatic sign.”
Kukki snorted at Hinata’s response, holding out his left hand- letting it droop down as he tapped his wrist with his right index and middle fingers twice.
Sighing, Hinata threw his head back dramatically. “‘When are you going to the doctors?’ Seriously?”
Laughing, Kukki nudged Hinata. “Yep, now it’s your turn to answer.”
Hinata narrowed his eyes, closing them as he grimaced, trying to remember the sign. He flattened his left hand, placing his right index finger against the lower part of his palm. He pulled back his finger, running his palm over his left.
“Thursday?”
Hinata sighed in relief, nodding as Kukki ruffled his hair. “Hey! It’s enough of a mess without you doing more damage!”
Laughing, Kukki gently leaned back, yawning as he did. “Not long before the others wake up. You want to stop.”
Hinata paused, shaking his head. “I’m happy practising alone. Go on and cook.”
Kukki smiled, walking around the kitchen as Hinata continued practising different phrases and hand movements. Kukki hummed to himself, singing despite the other person in the room that would usually deter him but it wasn’t as Hinata could hear him.
Walking through the door, Asahi froze, seeing Kukki singing happily. Hinata lifted his head, spotting Asahi. “Did you say something, Asahi?”
Kukki jolted, startled by Hinata’s voice and spinning around. He gulped, staring at Asahi. A long silence stretched out, both Asahi and Kukki staring at one another when Asahi suddenly turned and ran out of the room.
Pushing himself up, Hinata walked to Kukki who had fallen to the floor in a panicked scream.
“Are you okay?” Hinata stared at Kukki, pausing as he fidgeted. “Right, remember I can’t hear you.”
Kukki chuckled, lifting his head. “Yeah, I’m fine.” Kukki ran a hand through his hair, pulling himself up.
“Asahi isn’t a bad person, you shouldn’t be scared of him.” Hinata twisted his foot as Kukki waved his hand about.
“No! I’m not scared of him… at least not that way. He’s actually really cool and really kind but I can’t seem to muster up the confidence to talk to him.” Kukki pushed his hair back as Hinata gaped.
“You like him!”
Flushing, Kukki backed away, hiding his face.
“I can’t hear your denial! You like him!”
Kukki lowered his hand, jumping up as Hinata repeated the fact over and over. Covering Hinata’s mouth, Kukki held him in place.
Throwing open the door, Tanaka froze seeing Kukki and Hinata. Hinata glanced at Tanaka, unable to react as he threw Hinata behind him. “What the hell are you doing to my kouhai?!”
Kukki gulped, stepping back. “N-Nothing.”
Hinata pushed himself onto his tippy-toes, trying to see what Kukki and Tanaka were saying but he couldn’t see anything. Stepping back, Hinata crossed his arms over his chest. He grinned, an idea popping into his head.
