Stepping out of the room, Hinata grinned. Today he would go back to the doctors and hopefully get some good noise about his hearing. Even if the disease did end up being whatever the doctor had said last time, Hinata couldn’t care less. He could put up with the dizziness and nausea spells that the doctor had described if it meant he could hear again.
Getting to the bathroom, Hinata once more tested his hearing against the running water. Still nothing. Sighing, Hinata washed up, setting an alarm for 10 so he would have plenty of time to get to the doctor. Part of him paused, suddenly remembering once more that he couldn’t hear and so setting the alarm to vibrate.
Hopping down the corridor, Hinata barely stopped in time to not crash into Kenma who had stepped out of his room.
“Oh, morning, Sho. Where are you going in such a hurry, no one is awake?” Kenma fidgeted as Hinata forced himself to both stare and not stare at him.
He managed to get the basic gist of what Kenma said without scaring him. “I’m off to the kitchen. Since no one is awake at this hour, me and Kukki mess around there.”
Kenma blinked. “You’re not going to the court?”
“Well I would,” Hinata claimed, rolling his symbols. “But there isn’t anyone who would let me wake them so I could practice.”
“Oh…” Kenma paused, muttering something under his breath that Hinata could not catch. “I thought that wing spiker would.” Shaking himself out of his thoughts, Kenma smiled. “If you give me a minute to get up, I could set for you.”
Bouncing, Hinata squealed- though he did not know that. “Thank you Kenma!”
Hinata didn’t hear Kuro’s annoyed grumble that it was too early, instead, he told Kenma to meet him in the kitchen and went on his way. Bursting through the door, Hinata paused, noticing Asahi and Kukki in yet another stare-off.
Sliding to them, Hinata shifted his gaze between the two of them, waiting to see if either would break the intense eye contact. They did not. “How are your eyes not hurting?”
Slowly turning his head, Asahi stared at Hinata, the bloodshot orbs showing the answer. They were hurting. Yelping, Hinata rushed away, hiding behind Kukki who sighed, blinking his eyes rapidly as he hissed.
“You guys shouldn’t stare at each other like that, it’s not good for you.” Hinata peeked over Kukki’s shoulder as Kukki chuckled, turning around to greet Hinata.
“Morning to you too. Don’t forget your appointment today.” Kukki smiled as Hinata hissed, ducking past him.
“Yeah, yeah. I won’t. Kenma and I are going to practise, mind if I grab my food early?” Hinata eyed up the many different meals lined on the side. Kukki nodded before stopping, biting his lip in the realisation Hinata wasn’t looking at him. Unsure what to do, Kukki picked up a container, handing it to Hinata as permission.
Asahi watched the two interact, not needing words to know what the other was saying. He slowly backed out of the room as Hinata hopped beside him. “Do you want to come too? You can try to block me!” Hinata grinned as Asahi relaxed.
“Not today.”
Hinata pouted, hopping beside Asahi. “You know, Kukki doesn’t fear you. He doesn’t mean to just stare at you.”
Asahi smiled awkwardly. “That’s good. I thought I was scaring him.”
“Nope. He actually really likes you.” Hinata swung his arms in front of him, stopping as Asahi stopped walking.
“What do you mean by that?”
“He likes you. Simple as. Absolutely adores you.” Hinata spun around, walking to the door. “See you later, Asahi.” Hinata laughed to himself, leaving Asahi stunned and glancing back at the kitchen.
