I'll Never Give Up Hope
~
Every step I took echoed loudly throughout the endless prison of darkness. There was no one around, nothing and no one but me.
"Hello?" I called, receiving no answer. I glanced around me at the sounds that started, like prowling monsters in the dark, just waiting for the perfect time to strike.
I held my hands out in front of me, taking a small breath. "Post tenebras spero lucem." A ball of light magically formed in my hand and I lifted it up, letting its glow cast around me. I walked forwards slowly and cautiously, only for a sound I could only compare to a ships horn echoing through the darkness.
And then darkness became light, causing me to whip around. A bright, whooshing portal had formed in mid air, tugging me forwards. The hall of light dropped from my hands but I didn't care. I couldn't get sucked up from that vortex. I struggled against the pull, trying to get away from it. But I wasn't strong enough. My feet were pulled out from under me and I was dragged across the ground, trying to grasp at something, but there was nothing.
I was suddenly pulled into the air, all Hope seeming lost before something gripped my wrist, stopping me in midair. I looked to see, of all people, Clarke. He pulled me down, holding me bridal style as the portal disappeared. He smirked, looking down at me. "Fancy meeting you here."
He set me down, but I couldn't get over the initial shock. "Whoa." I turned to him. "What the hell are you doing here?"
"Saving your life, obviously."
"No. I'm supposed to be in-in peace. Okay, you are not peace. In fact, you're the opposite of peace." I snapped at him. "So, where are we?"
"Come on. Do the math." He glanced behind him.
I folded my arms. "It's not that simple. Okay, there are freaky cyclones and blinding lights and you're here..." I trailed off as the sudden realization hit me. "Oh, my God, we're in hell."
"No such thing. I think." He responded. "Go on. Take your best guess."
"No." I denied, walking past him.
"Why not?"
"Because I'm not gonna give you the satisfaction of telling me that I failed." I snapped, the awful feeling building up inside me.
"You mean you don't want to hear you're in the Blackness? That you've been consumed by Malivore?" He taunted, following after me.
