Steve was angry. Angry at all the memories that were haunting him. The memories of the war. Life before he crashed into the ice.
He continually beat at punching bags like physically hurting it would repress his memories. He was so in his head and focused on beating the bag, that Steve didn't notice Fury enter the gym.
Fury found Steve at an old-fashioned boxing gym that he knew had been open longer than Steve had been alive. It was one of the few things in New York City that Steve felt familiar around.
"Trouble sleeping?" Fury called out after seeing Captain America hang yet another punching bag.
"I slept for 70 years, sir... think I've had my fill." Steve answered as he continued punching.
"Then you should be out celebrating, seeing the world."
Steve stopped punching, knowing that Fury wasn't going to leave him alone, and walked over to a bench, beginning to unravel the tape on his hands.
"When I went under, the world was at war. I wake up, they say we won. They didn't say what we lost." Steve muttered.
"We've made some mistakes along the way. Some very recently." Fury admitted.
"You here with a mission, sir?"
"I am."
"Trying to get me back in the world?"
"Trying to save it." Fury handed Steve a file, filled with information.
