Fitting in
With the sun rising and peeking through the window blinds, morning came. Downstairs in the kitchen was Crewel, he had just made a cup of coffee to wake himself up before getting ready for the day. Just as he was about to sit down and enjoy his drink, the doorbell rang. He froze as he looked in the direction of the door. A pause followed until it rang again.
"Hello! Is anyone there?" A voice shouted from outside.
"Shit. I'm the only one that's up." He bit his lip as he jumped out of his chair and ran upstairs.
"GET UP AND PUT YOUR CLOAKING ON!!!!" He shouted, his voice echoing through the hallway.
"Nghh, it's not even noon old man." Leona fumbled out of the door.
"There's a magicless outside. So unless you want trouble get everyone else to put their damn cloaking on while I deal with this." Divus glared at Leona as he headed downstairs to answer the door.
"Sorry for the wait, most of us aren't up yet." He said as he opened the door to reveal a woman in her early thirties.
"No I'm sorry, I didn't realize how early it was." The woman smiled softly. "I found this cat nearby and thought it was maybe yours? It seemed lost."
"GRIMM?!" Divus exclaimed as he saw the cat with a pitchfork-shaped tail.
"So you know him? I'm glad he could find his family again." She smiled once again.
"Thank you so much." He took the kennel from the woman. "How could I repay you?"
"There's no need for that. Just welcoming a new person to town."
"You live nearby I take it?"
"Just at the end of the road. If you ever need help please ask me."
"Well please come in, I do have a few things I would like to talk to you about." He stepped away to let the woman inside.
"Oh why thank you."
"Would you like a cup of coffee? I just made a batch." He asked as he placed the kennel down and walked into the kitchen.
"If it's not too much trouble I would love one."
Divus poured the woman a cup, placing it gently on the table as he took a seat and grabbed his now lukewarm cup. Taking one sip he almost gagged so instead, he very secretly used just a bit of magic to warm it back up.
"I forgot to ask, what's your name? Mine's Divus." He smiled politely as he pressed the mug against his lips.
"I'm Mary, nice to meet you."
"The pleasure is mine."
"So Divus, what did you want to ask me?" Mary asked, playing with the rings on her hand.
"Well me and my... Husband just moved here with our kids. It was last minute so we don't really know what's nearby." Divus explained, not used to having to call his boss his husband. "Do you know any schools that can handle enrolling quite a few kids?"
