Chapter Twelve - A Job Well Done

After departing from Atmos, Lobo made his way back to the dive bar on the other side of the Galaxy. He then meets up with M at the same location where he first accepted the job.

M: Lobo. I was starting to think that you weren't coming back.

Lobo: When the Main Man is hired to do a job, the Main Man completes a job! One greedy bastich coming up!

Lobo then picks up Larfleeze and tosses him to the ground in front of M. Larfleeze writhes on the ground, attempting to free himself.

Larfleeze: Liar! Liar! Thief! I knew you were a lying little thief! You stole my Orange Shiny! Give it back! It's mine! MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE!

M: Larfleeze....

M was taken aback at the fact that Lobo was able to capture the crazed Orange Lantern when so many other bounty hunters have failed. Lobo then shows M the containment box.

Lobo: The bastich's ring and battery are locked nice and tight in this little box.

Lobo then opens the box to reveal both Larfleeze's Lantern Ring and his battery. M looked upon the ring and battery with envy in his eyes.

M: So.....beautiful.....

As M reaches his hand into the box, Lobo slams the box show.

Lobo: Hold it right there, M. The Main Man did the job. Now it's time to pay up.

M: Well...there has been some.....complications.

Upon hearing this, Lobo's smile dropped from his face as he approached M. He then grabs M by the throat and lifts him into the air.

Lobo: What kind of complication?! Where's the goddamn money that you owe me?!

M: I.....I never had the money! I needed a way to ensure that I only got the best!

At this point, Lobo was seething in rage. He thought of all the trouble he had to go through to capture Larfleeze. He ran around Atmos searching for Larfleeze while dealing with all manner of annoyances. To hear that M never had the money to begin with pissed off Lobo to no end. 

Lobo: So let me get this straight. You put out a bounty for this greedy little bastich worth 5 million, had me running around some shithole planet looking for this bastich only for me to find out that you didn't have the fraggin money to begin with?! Is that what you're telling me?! 

M: P...please! I'll get you your money! With this ring, I can get you your money with interest!

Lobo: That's not good enough, asshole! Right now, I got one whole heap of pent-up anger and frustrated rage just a-beggin' for a few friendly faces to frag! And it just so happens that one of the faces that I really want to fucking frag is right in front of me!

M: Just....just give me time! I'll get your money! I'll even double it! Once I get things rolling with the Orange Lantern Ring, I'll give you what you are owed and more! Just....let me live!

At this point, Lobo was tempted to wring M's neck. But as he was about to kill M, he glances over to Larfleeze who was still trying tto get free. After a moment, a toothy grin falls on Lobo's face. After a moment of tense silence, Lobo drops M.

Lobo: Maybe I overreacted. I gotta admit, you had me going for a bit. Ha! The look on your face! You must be shitting your pants right about now!

M: You're...not gonna kill me?

Lobo: Nah. The Main Man is feeling awfully generous so I'll give you this one as a freebie!

Upon hearing this, M was dumbfounded. He was certain that Lobo was going to kill him. 

M: I....I.....I don't know what to say....

Lobo: You keep your trap shut about this freebie. If people find out I gave someone a freebie, they're gonna think it's okay to screw over the Main Man! I got a reputation to think about!

M: You....you don't have to worry about your reputation, Lobo. I....I won't speak a word on this. 

Lobo: Good. And one other thing before I take off. I don't want to see your stinkin hide again. And if I do, you're fragged. Got it?

M: Y....yes!

Lobo: Pleasure doing business with you, bastich!

Lobo then gets on his Spacehog and drives off, but not before tossing the containment box at M. The box breaks open, leaving the Lantern unharmed. M walks towards the Orange Battery, not knowing that the Orange Ring rolled over to Larfleeze. M picks up the Orange Battery with envy in his eyes. 

M: So....this is the Power Battery of the Orange Lantern Corps. It's....it's even more beautiful than I imagine....

M gazes upon the Battery while the Orange Rings rolls over to Larfleeze. 

M: This....this Battery holds so much power.....what could I achieve with it? I....I could rule a kingdom. Maybe a planet. Perhaps an entire Galaxy. The possibilities are endless.....

As M gazes upon the Orange Power Battery, Larfleeze manages to get the Orange Ring back on his finger. M doesn't even notice Larfleeze breaking free. Once Larfleeze was free, he glances over to M who was holding the Power Battery. 

Larfleeze: IT'S MINE! MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE!

Larfleeze then charges at M and proceeds to brutally murder him. M screamed as Larfleeze tore him to bloody pieces. After killing M, Larfleeze takes his Orange Power Battery and leaves. As all this happened, Lobo made his way to the dive bar and began drinking to his heart's content while awaiting the next job that would be worth the Main Man's time.
