Pure Poison

Chapter 2

The trees were flying past us as we galloped through the forest, the wind in my face gave me the feeling of freedom. I came to a clearing, and a slop over looking the valley. Stheno rode up beside me we both looked down into the valley and both spotted the fresh wild cattle, Zeus gave both me and my sister permission to hunt in these areas, you never know what your going to find in the dark forest though, one day me and Stheno came upon a giant an had to flee as fast as we could we find it funny now but at the time it wasn't fun trying to be crushed by a giants club. I looked out over the valley and into the distance from this view you could just about make out the Griffins island, no man ventures there even though the Griffins are guarding a shed load of gold, you would be stupid to try and out smart and take on a Griffin let along a whole pack, they are furious creatures with a lion body and and eagle head and wings. Stheno signalled me to start to head down to the valley cautiously and to be wary, you can never be sure if your the one hunting when you could be the one being hunted. I made my way down the valley and kept close to the trees to make me seem less noticeable, I scanned the herd they were nasia cattle, quite hard to catch they can run fast and with those bulls horns you have to be well careful. I got into position facing towards the slope with the cattle In between us, this way I can chase them towards the slope and cattle don't tend to like the dark forest so they try to avoid it and this way I can corner them and shoot them easily. I wait for Stheno's signal and then we both charge straight ahead bolting, the cattle immediately start to shift and move towards the slop, I get my bow ready we continue full speed and as the cattle realise they are trapped we shoot. We got about 4 big nasia cattle well I say big I mean big for nasia cattle normal sized ones are double the size of normal sized cattle.
We load the cattle into a cart and head for home, a good days hunt I say, no need for the village to worry. We arrive home and hand the kill to the people who prepare the food me and Stheno just hunt. "Medusa! Stheno! over here!", we look over to see the voice coming from Euryale. "where have you been all day!? off singing again you do realise that wont help you in life!", Stheno said with a glaring look. "no actually, I was exploring!", Stheno gave a huge groan of annoyance "so you went exploring while we were left to catching the hunt!", Stheno growled. "well I found something interesting.....a new bathing pool and its beautiful and I couldn't take my eyes off it!",Euryale said. "ok, how about tomorrow we will take the day off and go see this new bathing pool?", I said "and I will find someone to do the daily hunt", I added. "fine! but it better be worth it!", Stheno glared at Euryale. I started to wonder down the village cobble stone and wondered who I could ask to help, I went and sat by the fountain in the middle of the village, it had a beautiful statue of Athena she was the goddess who we worshipped we had a temple for her and every morning we prayed there. She helps us have the amazing skill of hunting, I dipped my hand in the fountain and swished my hand around till the water started to pool. "hey! what you up to?", I turned around to find the voice coming from Nile, he was probably the hottest guy in the village, he had dark short hair and his eyes were like the dark blue blood of the cattle, he wore a black leather jacket and strapped to his back was a huge sword, he was also one of the best hunters in the village, me and Nile were very close as friends but I wanted to be more than friends but didn't have the guts to ask him. "oh..hey, so I need someone to fill in for me and Stheno tomorrow for the daily hunt?...you can do it right?", I asked. "yeah sure, you guys need a break anyway your always off hunting nearly every day so sure", he smiled. "thanks, that's really helpful", I smiled back. Then the horn was blown for dinner, me and Nile looked at each other "come on then let's go eat", Nile took me by the hand. we walked over to the dinning table, and I sat next to him. for the rest of the dinner I couldn't stop staring at him he was so handsome. after I was stuffed to the rim with food, I headed back to my villa. The moment I hit the pillow I fell into a deep sleep, my mind was still so active though my mind swimming with thoughts, some about Nile, some about hunting, some about the new bathing pool. It all seamed to good to be true the last bathing pool was infested with aqua eels, you can never be to safe. Well I guess tomorrow will brig our fate.
