Ell and Tamara soon went to bed, unbothered by the missing Mattilda. That was until Tamara woke up to her phone buzzing. She groaned but answered, it was Mattilda.
"What?"
"I-I've been freezing out here for hours!"
"Cool." She said in her apathy. She was just about to go back to bed when she spoke again.
"I-I think I'm going to get frostbite!"
Tamara glanced at her clock. It was 3 AM. She sighed, though she would hate to go out in the unforgiving snow, Ell would kill her if she discovered that either of them was hurt, or even worse dead. "Fine I'll get ready, why can't you just get out though?"
"I'm stuck but I'm so grateful for you."
"Whatever." She hung up and put on her usual hoodie and a blue coat over it. She got her black gloves and matching boots. She grabbed a bottle of Shirnuff just in case she needed it. She grabbed her keys and unlocked the door, shutting the door behind her to not make a sound. The no-eyed girl didn't want Ell to wake up and worry or anything, it was her responsibility, unfortunately.
She treaded through the snow as it crunched below her feet, creating a path. She went over to the steep hill. She groaned, she should have brought a sled. Unfortunately, she didn't so she slid down the steep hill to the ginger-haired girl. She fell flat on her face and looked up to find Mattilda, though it wasn't hard since she was laughing hard.
"It's not even that funny..." She sighed, kinda regretting coming here in the first place. Though, if Ell found out she ignored the call she probably wouldn't be able to get as many bottles of Shirnuff as she does. So, she just uncovered her from the snow, and after about 10 minutes or so, she was freed from her snow prison. Though, some snow was still stuck in her hair and on her clothes.
Tamara held onto her hand. "C'mon we got to get you home..."
"O-Ok..." She was shivering pretty harshly since she's been in the cold for so long. They made their way up the hill when Mattilda clung to Tamara.
"The hell are you doing?" She asked as she looked down at the ginger girl holding onto her waist.
"Th-This is the only way f-for me to stay warm u-unless you want m-me to take your coat." She rubbed her head against her back.
She blushed slightly, sighing. "If you're going to be that close...you might as well get a piggyback ride..."
Matilda beamed like she hadn't been in the snow for hours on end. "R-Really??"
She nodded. "Don't expect this every day...only because it's easier to walk like that."
She smiled, and without missing a beat, she put her arms around her neck. Tamara picked her up and started crunching through the snow. Matilda continued to cuddle her, enjoying being that close to her and affectionate. Tamara blushed again, but she wanted to get home as soon as she could.
Before they knew it, they were home. Tamara placed her down on the couch and got some blankets for her and stuff. "There, you should be fine. I'm going to my room." She turned to go walk to her room when she felt a tug at the back of her coat.
"St-Stay..." She said before having a sneezing fit.
She groaned. "Why should I? I already gave you a piggy-back ride...you seem fine."
Matilda was still shivering, even with all the blankets. "Pl-Please...I need your warmth..."
"And if I don't?"
She wiped her nose from the snot dripping down. "I-If you don't, I-I might not be well enough f-for Christmas..."
"That's not how it works. Wouldn't a hot bath work bette-"
She was cut off. "Sh-Shut up...p-please Tammie...I-I'm so cold..."
She sighed, she knew it was stupid but she didn't want to argue with her all night. She sat beside her. Immediately, like they were magnets, she stuck to her. Or more so, she laid her head down on her lap.
She laughed awkwardly. "What are you trying to do, get to the warmest part of me?"
"I-It's nothing like that! I-It's just..." She wrapped an arm around her. "Y-You're comfy..."
"Whatever..." She turned the TV to some crappy Christmas movie to try and distract her from the awkward situation at hand. Though that didn't help much, considering she didn't celebrate it and such. Plus it didn't help that the characters weren't likable, so her mind kept shifting back to Mattilda. The tall ginger in her lap. But a dropling of curiosity also festered itself in her mind: why did she call her? She knows that she always mutes her phone when she goes to bed, or at least she usually did. Plus there would be no guarantee that she would even pick up, considering she was the most apathetic one. So, why would she? She stared at her for a few minutes, pondering before the ginger shared her gaze.
"What?"
"Just wondering..."
"About what?"
"Well...why did you call me?"
She sneezed again before answering. "I-I like you more."
"You like me more than Ell?" She was honestly a bit surprised.
"Well yea, I know her intentions are good but-don't tell her I said this-she can be really annoying."
She shrugged. She did agree, she could be at times. "Yea, I'm just surprised you think that. You're usually pretty happy go lucky."
"Eh...not always." She looked up at her. "You're pretty."
"Uhh...thank...you?" She said with confusion, she never usually got complimented for her looks. Nor did she expect to, unlike the ginger.
Matilda just smiled for a few moments, before her face turned red as she realized what she said. "W-Well...I like you more because you're pretty and I'm b-beautiful so you remind me of myself."
Tamara smiled for once, even with her worryingly low self-esteem, even she could tell that was just made up. But she decided to just enjoy this somber moment with her. She rubbed her head, just enjoying her company for the moment. She wasn't sure what was to come of their relationship if anything, but all she knew is that she could sit down to watch a crappy movie if it was with her.
The end.
