After our talk, our family has had a lot of improvement. It was almost two weeks ago, and for the first time in a long time, I let it all out. I wasn't the only one, Luisa, Isabella, Mirabel, and papi all shared their feelings. But an even bigger piece of news, the house was pretty much finished. We would be holding a celebration tonight to commemorate it's completion.
"Home sweet home
I like the new foundation."
Mirabel says standing in front of our house, Abuela walks up behind her.
"It isn't perfect."
"Neither are we."
Mirabel says, Abuela nods.
"That's true,
"Just one more thing, before the celebration"
"What?"
Mirabel asks, I walk up behind her.
"We need a doorknob."
"We made this one for you."
Antonio hands Mirabel a new doorknob with an M on it. We gather around Mirabel. Antonio takes Mirabel's hand and walks her toward the door.
"We see how bright you burn."
Pepa's side of the family acknowledges.
"We see how brave you've been."
Mirabel's sisters say while looking proudly at her.
"Now, see yourself in turn."
Tia Julieta and Tio Agustin say
"You're the real gift, kid, let us in."
Papi says, I smile at her and nod.
"Open your eyes
Abre los ojos
What do you see?"
Abuela says, Mirabel looks at her reflection in her doorknob and tears up a little
"I see me
All of me."
Mirabel looks at us, I smile back, encouragingly. Mirabel turns, then places her doorknob into the door. Light races over the entire Encanto fixing the cracks that spread to the town. Casita comes back to life again, Casita waves at Mirabel, Mirabel waves back. "Hola, Casita." Mirabel says, Casita pulls her through the front doors into the home. Mirabel looks back to us and the crowd from town. "C'mon, get in here!" Casita yanks everyone else inside, startling dad a bit. I enter the courtyard to see everyone's doors glowing with a new magic. Antonio rides past on his jaguar. In a corner Isabela creates new, bizarre plants, because screw perfection. Luisa regains her strength, but some donkeys carry her to a hammock to relax with a beverage. Snow begins to falls overhead and I see Pepa who is dancing under her snow cloud with Félix. Watching all of this is Mirabel, papi, Abuela and I are yanked to the side by Casita for a new family portrait.
As the picture is being taken, Casita squeezes this whole, imperfectly perfect familytogether. My dad is here, the family is more open about their issues, I've got an amazing girlfriend, and we are all embracing our imperfections. As far as I can tell, everything is gonna be okay.
