I went back to RingTown after being in Trap City for a week. When I got into town people were staring. "Did she just come from Trap City"? "She looks terrible". "What's going on with her"? Then Liam was there, along with Silvia. Silvia was glaring at me with a smirk on her face. "Emily"! He ran over to me and examined me. "Where were you, did you just come from Trap City"? I stayed quiet. "Did that disgusting bandit kidnap you, I promise I'll find her"? Silvia looked jealous. "No she didn't kidnap me Liam, I went with her". "But she's a bandit, she stole from us before"! "She's my friend you bastard". He looked shocked.
"What's her name"? "And why would I tell you that"? "Because that would mean you're an apprentice if you don't". "I don't know her name", I lied. It made me smile and tingle, the lying. The fact that I could get in trouble for lying like this. "Well I have the divorce papers, come to the church so you can sign them". "Fine", I followed him to the church. The pastor was there along with the president. This was really happening, I was going to lose my speed. I stepped on the platform and looked over at Silvia and the president in the crowd. I turned back to Liam.
This was the same exact way and position when we got married. Now it was the place where it would all end. "Sign the papers, it might hurt a bit, but then you'll lose your powers". I signed my name onto the empty line next to Liam's. Nothing happened, but then it hit me. It was a large power serge in my body. Then I felt it all leave me, I instantly felt weak, my thighs hurt. "Are you okay Emily", Liam asked, reaching for me. I slapped his hand away and stood up straight. "Don't touch me bitch". Everyone in the room gasped. "Emily", the pastor exclaimed.
"Emily, how could you say such a thing", Liam asked. Silvia was in the back smiling. "We all know you are one, you cheated on your wife with a high school student. You divorced her and left her to rot, I'm surprised she wants you, you little bi-". "Watch your mouth Emily", Silvia shouted. "Or what, you're gonna steal my life, you already did. You're just a little girl who doesn't know what to do with her life so she's taking others". "Get out Emily". "No", I shouted. "Whether I'm Council Woman or not I swear to you you'll remember me. Some way or another you'll remember Emily Ivanova"! I left the church and went to Trap City.
I went to Inko's place and knocked on the door. She opened it and looked me up and down. "Is something wrong Emily"? "Liam and I are divorced now, I don't have my speed", I chocked back tears. She looked me in the eyes, almost like she was waiting for me to cry. A tear fell down my face and she pulled me inside before closing the door. "I'm so sorry", she hugged me. "I'm so sorry". I sobbed onto her shoulder. "Sit down, is there something you'd like"? "No, I'm fine". With all that was going on, I still couldn't help but think something. I had never seen Inko be so kind and comforting before.
"Do you know what you're going to do now"? "No, I don't". "Well maybe you still have your speed, maybe you somehow kept it", she suggested. "That's not possible Inko", I said, wiping my tears. She smiled, "You never know until you try". She pulled me off the couch and took me outside. What is she gonna do now?
