Hero in the flesh

    "When you get out of the hospital... I want to grant you a hero award". "Really, little old me"? "Come to the hall well dressed, please and thank you". "No problem". "But I also need to talk to you in private", he said, grabbing my arm. I turned around, Emily watched us leave together. "I just saw you and Emily". "What"? "I saw you kiss her". "What the hell does that have to do with you"? "She's a woman and my ex-wife". "Ex-wife". "What you are doing is forbidden, I will not allow you to make my ex-wife into some kind of vermin". "Emily is my best friend, get your shit together and worry about your current wife". He pushed me against the wall, causing a great pain in my stomach. "Ah"!

    Emily came out of her room and saw us. "What the hell are you doing Liam"? "I was just talking to her", he said, walking away. I held my wound and limped back into my bed. "Are you okay"? "Yeah... I'm fine". About a week later I was out of the hospital and back at home with Emily. "We have to get ready for the award ceremony", she told me. "Oh yeah, I forgot". "You know what you did was amazing, you saved RingTown alone". "It wasn't all that good, there were only about 100 robots left". "That's still a lot for one person", she said putting her hand on my back. I turned around and she quickly moved it.

    "You're fine, I don't mind". She smiled, "I'll go and get ready". There was a knock at the front door. I opened it and saw a royal guard from the military standing there. "Hello, is something wrong"? He put his arms out, it was a dress. It was long and princess-like. It was the same color as my eyes. "Why thank you". He nodded his head and marched away. I closed the door, "Who was that", Emily asked. "A guard, he dropped this off", I said, showing her the dress. "It's beautiful". "I know right". There was another knock at the door and when I opened it to see no one there. It was a box that read, "For the duchess". I opened the box and there was a red and black ruby crown along with black stilettos.

    "Wow, they're really going all out", I said. "Really, I think it's a normal outfit", Emily said. I turned to her and smiled. "To you it's normal, this is gold to me". "I guess so", she shrugged. I got dressed and came downstairs. "How do I look"? Emily was wearing a long and tight blue dress with white heels. She had her hair in a pony-tail. "You look amazing". "Thank you". "Also, we were noted that the bandits will be there, you'll also be announcing your title to them". "Okay, this is gonna be a slice of cake". We left and went to the hall, passing bandits on the way there. They were looking, wondering what was going on. They were even more shocked to learn they were being invited to come to RingTown.

    When I got to the hall, about a hundred goodies were waiting for me. "Good evening Duchess Inko". I nodded my head, "Good evening". "When did you learn some manners", Emily whispered. "I'm just repeating what I see you goodies do". We were approached by Liam, I frowned. "Hello Liam". "Councilman Liam". I shrugged my shoulders. "Well... you sure clean up nice", he smiled. "Did you just compliment me.... thank you". "No problem Duchess". He walked away and I turned to Emily with a shocked face. "He just complimented me"? "I think he did", she laughed. We continued on. I introduced myself to other goodies and my siblings were there. Judging how we were basically the royal family.

    "Hi Tayo, hi Shego". "Hi Inko", the hugged me. "I missed you guys, I haven't seen you since the fight". "I know, we wanted to come see you but we got held up", Shego said. "Yeah, we had to fill out a bunch of legal forms", Tayo said. "Well isn't this amazing... we're royal", I laughed. "This is everything we've ever wanted, to be rich and happy", Shego told me. "I'm happy I was able to sort this all out, now you all can live better". "Thank you". "Well have a good time at the ceremony, Lord Tayo, same to you, Lady Shego". They smiled and bowed before walking off.
