Chapter 20: Smells like vacation
Nag-drive na siya papunta sa condo. Hindi rin nagtagal nakarating na kami sa tapat ng building.
“So, what are we going to talk about, ‘princess’?” he said mockingly.
“Stop that, Eli.” I gave him a look. “I just want to ask…”
Err, tama ba na itanong ko? Bahala na.
“Honestly, ayokong mangialam sa issue niyo ni Anya, but gusto ko talagang itanong kung anong balak mo.”
“Chi, it’s been a year, hindi pa rin ba siya nakakaget-over?”
“Wow ha! Eli! Ang gwapo mo, shet!” kung wala lang talagang strap tong sandals ko,baka nabato ko na to.
“I’m serious, chichi. Kailangan na niyang kalimutan kung anong meron saamin noon.” Sabi nito ng seryoso. Minsan talaga may pagka gago tong kinakapatid ko.
“At least naman you should explain to her why did you leave. Hindi yung makikipaghiwalay ka the same day ng pag-alis mo? Anong kagaguhan yun, Eli? paki-explain. Labyu.”
Nanginginit na talaga ulo ko. Siyempre parehas ko silang kaibigan. At least naman diba tapusin nila ng maayos ng maka fully-move on na si Anya.
“I told you, it’s because of business.”
“Lokohin mo lelang mo, Elijah boy. You can handle your business kahit hindi ka dun mag-stay, why so sudden, huh?” oo na, ginigisa ko na siya.

“One of my fave. Hey! Don’t try to change the topic, it won’t work!” I snapped at him.
“Well, it worked” he smirked.

“So, what?”
“Grace…” now he’s serious, pag grace na ang tawag niyan seryoso na yan. “I really... I just…” he sighed.
“I can’t. I’m sorry.”
“Why, Eli? Oh my god.” an idea struck me. Don’t tell me…
“What?”
“You’re not sick, are you? Tell me you did not stay there for medications… because you’re ill?”I almost chocked while I’m saying that. Sana mali ako ng iniisip.
He was silent for seconds.

Parang sinabi na din niya na totoo yung sinabi ko.
Minute had passed; still, he didn’t move an inch.
I’m aware na namumuo na ang luha sa mata ko. Tell me I’m wrong…
…then all of a sudden.
“Pffff.”
I looked at him just to see his face turned red as tomato.
“HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!” he burst out laughing, his hand on his tummy as if he can’t control his breath anymore.
