Edmund
"I don't know why mom insist on getting a maid, I mean we're old enough to do most of the house chores ourselves." Elliot, my twin brother said as he slumped unto my bed, nearly pushing me off in the process.
I glared at him, "see who's talking, someone that can't even wash his own underwears."
He sat up properly, throwing a pillow directly at my face, knocking my glasses off. "As if you're any better. At least I don't need extra eyes to see properly." I stood up and dragged the bed cover hard, yanking him off from the bed and unto the hard floor, "Shut the fuck up. Thank God am not the one with the massive schnoz."
"Yeah.... But that still doesn't keep the ladies away." He retaliated with a smirk sitting up. I rolled my eyes, getting fed up of his annoying presence. "What are you even doing here?" I asked.
"Wait? What am I doing in my own room?" He asked sarcastically keeping his palm under his chin, pretending to be deep in thought. "What are you doing in my side of the room." I corrected glaring daggers at his head.
He shrugged, "what were we talking about sef, before you rudely interrupted me by pushing me off your bed." He said, sitting back on the bed. "Something about mum bringing in a new maid," I answered nonchalantly.
Elliot nodded, "Yeah that. I just think it's a bad idea to bring in a housekeeper, especially when you know they like to steal. Remember what happened last time with the former maid, what's that her name again," he asked looking at me. I shrugged, "Funke." I answered, he snapped his fingers. "Yes her." He shivered, "remember the time she snuck in here begging you to sleep with her?" I burst out laughing at the horrified look on his face.
"Wait.... You knew?" He asked softly looking very uncomfortable.
"Yes na, I was just pretending to be asleep when she tried waking me up. And you, you that don't have sense woke up when she called you. Omo, I saw everything o. Even when she started-"
"Ehhhh, it's okay bikonu! Please stop talking about this. I can't believe you were awake and you let her harass me, that old woman. Tufia," Elliot scrunched his face in disgust, maybe that's why he's so afraid of mum bringing in another maid, He doesn't want another Funke episode.
A moment of Awkward silence past. "You... You didn't tell mum did you?" He asked shifting uncomfortably, clasping his hands together nervously.
I bit my bottom lip preventing the laughter that was threatening to escape. "I told her."
"You what!!!!!?" He practically screamed, jumping up from the bed in alarm. "What the Fuck is wrong with you Edmund?! Why would you tell her, and she never brought it up to me, this is so humiliating." He rambled pacing tho and fro with his hands behind his back.
"Edmund, why??? Jesus Christ, your-"
I burst out laughing, holding my stomach as tears started forming in my eyes. Elliot stopped pacing and gave me a confused look, "why are you laughing?" He asked annoyance lacing his voice.
"You. Are. An. Idiot!" I tried saying in-between laughter. He glared at me, "Jeez, thanks that's quite nice of you to say in a moment like this." He snapped.
I shook my head, as my laughter died down. "I didn't tell mum. Your annoying hell, you annoy me so much that I feel like cutting your hair off." He touched his hair. "Okay, now am scared." I continued, "but I'd never tell mum that, I was waiting for you to do it. I guess when you didn't I figured you handled it, especially with the whole lost purse scandal."
He sighed in relief, "Thank Goodness, I was very scared."
"You were behind those missing purse weren't you?" I asked, he nodded confirming my suspicion, "I knew it! How did you even do it?" I asked getting interested
He shrugged, sitting on one of the bean bags, "it was quite easy, but required Alot of sneaking in and out and I had help from the slyest person we know.""Lekan." I answered, he nodded and continued, "anyways, remember when Aunt Veronica brought mum does purses to sell from Italy?" I nodded, urging him to continue. "Well, mum asked Funke to keep them in her bedroom and not let anyone enter her bedroom. I later went to Funke and told her that mum asked her to take the purses outside to the guest house."
"And she believed?" I asked shaking my head in amusement. Elliot nodded, "ehen naw. Unknown to her, Lekan was hiding behind the Bushes and recorded when she went out with the purses." I concluded.
"That's why you were constantly on your phone that night, well more than usual anyway." I said.He nodded, "Remember when I told mum I needed to check something outside? I actually went to Lekan and helped him sneak the box into our room." My eyes widened, "wait o, so the box was in here all along. If mum had found them in here we would have been in serious trouble."
Elliot chuckled, "she never found out. And I showed her the vedio, she nearly called the police on Funke. But I later brought the boxes and said she wanted to sell them, that's how she was sacked." He shrugged like it was nothing.
"You're a mad, wicked genius. I can't believe you did all that just so mum could send her away." I laughed, remembering the drama that unfolded that day, come to think of it, I actually feel bad for Funke.
"We're actually very lucky, if mum had found out we'd be in very hot soup." I added.
He nodded, getting up. "Yup but she never did, plus Funke or whatever her name was crossed my path, and you know how I can be when you mess with me." I rolled my eyes. Also getting up when we heard the gate being opened.
"Mum's back." I said checking through the window, "did you take out the trash like she told you to?" I asked.
He looked at me with a confused expression, "oh shit! I completely forgot all about it. And it's when she came back that you're reminding me of it." He sighed, running out. I shook my head, typical Elliot.
