First Year: Quidditch

Saturday 2 October 1971

Quidditch trials came on to date, Marlene was so excited to tryout, though she knew she hardly had a chance to get in no first year had played ever before but she kept saying 'at least she would be noticed.' James and Sirius had decided to tryout too, well they did have a passion for it. And what a frill it was.

It was half nine in the morning, it was way too early to get up on a Saturday and all the girls were up to get ready to walk down to the pitch. Mary and Dorcas had gone with school spirt and wore Gryffindor knitted sweaters and lily and Alice just wore there scarfs for the warmth. Ziggy had to wear a spear set of leggings and an old t-shirts she had, she didn't own any kit so that was just improvised. Marlene had the gear, she knew where she wanted to play and all! Beater, that was her position, meanwhile Zig had no fucking clue what a beater was. Marlene had been banging on about James wanting to go for chaser and Sirius for beater yet James could practically play anywhere.

By ten they were down there and ready to tryout and so were the twins, Gideon and Fabian so she saw. Gideon wanted to go for Chaser and Fabian for Beater. Mary and Dorcas got extra excited to see them play in action too. Ziggy heard them yell go Gideon and Fabian up top.

"Alright beaters stand over there, chasers there, keepers over there and seekers." The captain said. It was like everyone knew what they were doing, Marlene chased for beater, so did Sirius and James ran to chasers. Ziggy thought why not chaser sounded like chasing, and it sounded alright.
There was years one to six to tryout for the team, hardly any seventh years play quidditch due to the exams yet fifth year we're perfectly alright joining. The captain was in their seventh and were going of to play for one of the big teams, he had been captain since fifth year and he got on on second.
"Alright, I'm going to two teams, I don't want to look in who wins or loses I want to watch you as an individual player."

Both Gideon and Fabian were on Ziggy's team as well as Marlene, Potter and Black were the rivals. Ziggy hoped that the boys and Marlene would take them down.
Once the whistle blew Ziggy quickly learnt what Gideon next steps were and try to copy him from the experience he had. Turned out Ziggy had the hang of it fairly quickly and became really good at the sport, she managed to score and help her team mates to, she was good at the coordination and speed on her broom work and Marlene and Fabian was definitely doing a good job to the other beaters at their games.
Mary, Dorcas, Alice and Lily sat on the sidelines screaming and cheering for the girls, and Cas and Mary was cheering for the twins too obviously. Remus and Peter were also in the stands, Remus cared about his book though, Ziggy thought the same thing during the match, what's the point of even watching?

"What one do I shoot in?" Ziggy asked Gideon.
He chuckled "any its the goals, you get the ball to go in it to get ten points each time."
"And why is there three, can I score with the other balls." She briefly yelled to him.
"Merlin! Do you not know anything?" He asked and she shook her head "right there is the snitch, what the seeker gets, beater basically have bludgers to watch out for and we have the quaffle. And this what we need to get into the goal." He explained and showed her.
"Alright cheers." She nodded taking him the mental note of what ball was for what player.

The score ended on 90-70 to Ziggy's team with her scoring seven of them out of the nine. Marlene was one of the best beaters out there and the twins were gods at quidditch.

"Alright Thank you for playing for us, some of you I want on my team and some did really good but unfortunately had to turn down, Huggins, Gideon, Fabian, Zola and Ziggy welcome to the team." He announced. Though Marlene didn't get in she jumped so high in the air and squealed that Ziggy managed to make it. " You did it Ziggy I'm so happy!" The blonde hugged the brunette. She looked at the boys, James and Sirius they looked jealous and grumpy that Ziggy got in, full on knowing that she hadn't ever played in the life and settled her up for failure. Marlene was happy and she showed it but Ziggy felt awful because it was her who wanted the place no t Ziggy.
