The Dead Crime (Draft)

Chapter#17

Camille's mother, called as Lina was a bright and cheerful lady who had gotten married to Kevin at the age of 24 after graduating from university. They used to be the sweetest young couple at their university. Lina had a group of 8 friends including herself with whom she usually hung out. After meeting Kevin even though the number had increased to 9, there wasn't much difference. Kevin didn't speak at all, he only sat in a corner watching Lina giggle and goof around with her friends. Even after getting married she was always talking to her parents and friends laughing and talking which made Kevin jealous.
Lina was really close to her parents, she loved them a lot and was always calling them to check if they were doing ok as they were old now, they weren't as active as they used to be before. Kevin's jealousy had become really dangerous but Lina was unaware at that time. She wasn't a bad wife, she spend mostly all of the day with Kevin and few hours talking to her parents and friends but Kevin saw it otherwise. He loathed that she loved her parents and friends too much that everytime they met she would give them a smooch on their cheeks and greet them wholeheartedly.

It was one gloomy day, the crows cawed noisily outside the house as if warning about a danger. Lina went to take the call when the telephone started ringing all of a sudden at an unusual time. When she took the call, her face turned pale making her eyes watery. She had been informed that her parents died of food poisoning. She was very shocked by the sudden news, she kept weeping waiting for Kevin to arrive so she could hug him and cry out loud. She was unaware then that she was expecting to be consoled by someone who had killed her parents because of his jealousy. Their funeral went smoothly without suspection of homicide. Their death was concluded as a natural death caused by food poisoning.
Even after their death nothing really changed upto Kevin's expectations. She was really close to her friends and Kevin's violent thoughts had made him busy stalking them, finding out their address and other information. But before he could conduct a serial killing session, Lina found out something about Kevin.
She had accidentally gone through his past medical records and seen that he was suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorder. But she kept calm about it and decided to help him. She researched more about his condition finding out various dangerous situations she was supposed to avoid. After that she started getting more close to Kevin and tried not to talk to her friends goofily which was quite hard for her so she called them when Kevin wasn't around. Though it was hard to live with a person with OCD, Lina never gave up. She felt bad for him and wanted to be with him and if possible try to cure his illness.
Kevin had gotten rid of those brutal thoughts with the sudden change which he wanted around him. It went on like this for almost 5 to 6 years during which they had their first child. Camille was growing alright with her parents, though sometimes Kevin seemed to be a threat to her, he managed to control his thoughts and try to love her like he loved her mother.
Things were going good until one day Kevin's trust got shattered to pieces which caused him to turn into a monster.
It was a pleasant morning of a spring day when the flowers were blooming beautifully in the garden and the sparrows were flying around the sky chirping wonderfully. Lina was laughing with a friend of hers on the phone when Kevin had left for work. It was her best friend Jessica who had her first baby boy. She was inviting her over to see the boy and Lina was excited to see him. She got ready with Camille and they both hurried to her house so they can come back before Kevin returns home but he had seen her and had felt utterly betrayed. When she came back home Camille stopped by the flowers in the garden while Lina went inside, bright smile had conquered her face which suddenly dimmed when she saw Kevin in front of her. She gasped freezing at the spot.

"Who were you meeting behind my back?"

"It really wasn't anyone, it was just my friend-" her heart started beating fast when she saw a knife in his hands, "Kevin, put that knife away. Please calm down first."

"I'm disappointed. I didn't know you'll do that to me." He slowly moved towards her while she tried not to step back but fear was making her shift backwards bit by bit.

"Think about Camille, you love her don't you? She would be wounded if you harm me right now."
But Kevin didn't spare her a moment more to try and calm him. His anger had already burst out of the thermometer. He wasn't in control anymore. He stabbed her making her bend down and fell on her knees wailing in pain. She wasn't able to hold up any longer than 45 seconds and died.
Kevin stood still beside her for a while looking at her pale face,

"Why...why did you make me do this." He said as if regretting not being able to control his nerves. But a moment later his sadness had become a mocking smirk.
After that he had married Diana only to cheat on his previous wife and to make her jealous.

EPILOGUE:
One day when 17 year old Camille came back from school she saw that white old man she had seen when she was 8, standing in front of her house looking at it.

"What business are you here for?" She asked folding her arms.

"Seems like you weren't able to get away from the venom."

Camille furrowed her brows as she suddenly remembered who he was,
"But how did you know that he's a monster?"

"Because I raised him. He's a psycho, He gets obsessed with anything and does everything to get it under his own control." He gazed at Camille, "In other words, he's someone people need to avoid the most."

"Why do you even care? Whatever happens is none of a threat to you or is it?" She said starting to get a little irritated.

The old man didn't respond to her question, instead he smiled and spoke,

"Seems like you have the same disease like him hmm."

"No!! You're wrong, I'm nothing like him." She protested and went straight inside without getting further involved with him.
