Chapter 8: "My Dearest Daughter"
My dearest daughter,
All I want is for you to be happy, even though it may go against my own happiness. I want you to have all that I was never privileged to have even if it means leaving you alone to spread your wings, fly and make mistakes.
You must however understand that I do not wish for you to be sad. Remember I will always come back for you no matter what. Momma's got your two.

It's been two weeks since the incident with Dare and Elizabeth. School was slowly getting tense as all students were became fully aware of the importance of the exams we were to write.
Life at home had not been going well either. although better on some days, 'Mom' had at least stopped behaving so nasty to me. I was fully aware that it was only for a short while but I decided to bask in it while it lasted.
There had been unfortunately, no more encounter with Damola as each person had been so caught up in their own personal bubble plus I think I made it pretty obvious to him the last time that I wasn't ready to accept just anybody into my life, not even as friends.

"You too Lase naa" I retorted in a whiny voice trying to mimick Lase
Lase was currently trying to get me to follow her to SS3 Science A, Damola and Tolu's class but I kept saying no, irrespective of her bribes and pleadings.
Our promotion exams were in full swing and I was not planning on risking even 10 minutes,
A whole ten minutes that I could have spent studying
10 freaking minutes that I could have spent trying to learn some of the advantages and disadvantages of Capitalism as opposed to Socialism.
"Lase no, no,no, no and no" I replied "Do not get me wrong, I love you, I really do but you know that Mr Ajao will have my head of he sees anything less than seventeen over twenty in this exam. Furthermore, you should also be studying really hard for your Chemistry exam.
It's not as if you will kuku talk to him when we get there na, you'll just chicken out and turn back like you always do, thereby wasting time that I could have spent studying"
"No, I do not" Lase countered
"Yes, you do"
"Noooo"
"Yes"
"No"
"Look, Oluwalase Hannah Adegoriola, I'm so not in the mood for all of these, please do not make this hard for me" I said with a note of finality
"I'm sorry Omolola, I really am" She said in a very sad tone that made me feel bad.
"It's okay, I have just been so on the edge lately, I really do not know why. I feel like something bad is gonna happen soon. And no, you are not guilt tripping me into following you to the other building" I told her trying to get her to understand that I was not really angry just tired.
"Okay, okay, okay, you got me" She said raising her hands up as an act of surrendering
"You never give up, do you?"
"Well you know me so well"
"Guys, guys, it's almost time for the commencement of the exams. You all need to go into your hall now" Nife said walking up to us
"Oh, okay, we will be there in a few, thanks b" Lase replied for the both of us
"Well I guess this is goodbye, temporarily though, see you after this paper, alright?" Lase said facing me
"Sure, you will" I replied

A lot of groans could be heard from the SS2 Art students as we all received our question papers from the invigilator.
"How in the world does he expect us to answer all these questions in less than 3hrs?"
"The fudge tho?"
" I could literally start crying honestly"
"I can swear that I didn't read shit on all the topics in this question paper"
"Excuse me sir, are you sure that the distributors from the exam committee did not give you the wrong questions?"
The one comment that even got me laughing was when Demi went all like
"Lord Jesus, kin sepe, it's not a curse but I am fully sure that I've failed this course on my own, please kindly send your angels down from heaven to help me write this thing"
I mean, it was just Government, right?

"Nothing sir" David shouted

"How was Government?" Lase asked
"It was bad, very bad, honestly. I was almost crying, Mr Ajao did not even spare us"
"Eiyahh, Pele"
"How was Chemistry?"
"Chemistry was okay, better than I expected"
"Lucky you, Mr Adebowale went easy on you guys"
"Yeah, I was very happy sef, how are you going to spend your holiday?"
Is it already time for the holidays ni? I thought internally
Ehn, ehn, it will wait for you my subconscious answered
Mo gbe o, so I'm going to spend another 44 days on thay house,
Full fourty four days
"Lola, Lola, are you fine? You spaced out again. What happened?" Lase asked
"Nothing, I was just thinking on how I'm going to spend my holiday."
"Okay, if you say so. Sha don't hesitate to tell me if something is wrong. You know that las las we go dey alright, abi"
"Yes, I do. I just find it very difficult to believe sometimes"
