Aru was hanging out with her sister, Kara, and her bestfriend, Mini. She had just told them about the mission.
"That's awesome!" exclaimed Mini, beaming. "I wish I could come with you, but I have an exam. . ."
Mini is a member of Black Emperor too, but because she wants to be doctor, she mostly spends her time in school. Of course, Aru still comes and sees her.
"Me too!" said Aru.
"Do be careful, Aru," warned Kara. Aru turned to look at her sister, who was looking back at her warily. "I don't want you to get hurt while you're there."
Aru held her hand. "Of course, didi. I'll be careful." Kara smiled at her, but it didn't reach her eyes. Mini chimed in.
"You better update me daily! I need to know everything that happens," she said.
"Of course I will," laughed Aru.
Aru was excited to go on this mission. But still, deep in her heart, she was scared. What would happen? What if they immediately find out she was a spy? If that did happen, how would her father react? Aru shuddered at the thought of her father being enraged with her.
Ever since she was little, she had always admired and respected her father. Aru, along with Kara, had done multiple things to make him proud. It had always caused him to smile at them and say That's my girls! But Aru still felt it wasn't enough. She wanted to be the best leader for Black Emperor. She wanted her father to be proud of her, and only her. She wanted glory. Or honestly, anything that would make her father see her as the best. Aru knew it was selfish, but that was what she wanted anyway.
Suddenly, the vice-captain of Kara's division showed up. His name was Kiaan Sharma. He was a twenty-one year old guy, same age as Kara. About six feet tall, dark hair with even darker eyes, light brown skin, and almost always had a brooding look on his face. Dude never smiled, at least, Aru never saw him do so.
"What is it, Kiaan?" asked Kara. Kara was fond of him and treated him like a little brother. Though, Aru once thought that Kara liked him (which made Kara turn red and firmly deny it), what with the constant smiling at him and exchanging fond glances at each other. Aru was sure Kiaan liked her, though. And to prove Aru's point, Kiaan's cheeks had turned bright red when Kara spoke.
"Um, I just need to introduce Aru to the members that'll be going with her," he said quickly.
"Oh. Okay." Kara turned to Aru. "Go on, Aru."
Aru stood up and followed Kiaan, but not before flashing a grin at Mini.
Being best friends for years, Aru and Mini could have conversations just by using their facial expressions.
They're definitely going to get married, Aru said.
Mini grinned back. If they could even have the guts to tell their feelings.
Aru snorted. Kiaan glanced at her and raised an eyebrow.
"What is it?"
"Oh, nothing," said Aru. "Just thinking about the fact of how much you love my sister."
"I don't," said Kiaan flatly.
"Uh-huh. But don't worry!" added Aru. "You're her type!"
Kiaan pretended he didn't hear her, but his shoulders tensed. Aru smirked.
"But, you know," Aru continued. "You could smile a lot more."
"Enough. I told you, I don't see her that way. And even if I did, she doesn't feel the same," he said, grimacing.
That shut Aru up. A very big yikes for this guy. There was silence for a few moments, and she found it very awkward, so she brought up a new subject.
"So, how many people are going with me?" asked Aru.
"At least twenty members," said Kiaan, who seemed relieved that the subject has been changed.
Finally, they reached the courtyard, where the members were patiently waiting. When they saw Aru and Kiaan approaching, they all stood up straight and formed two lines. They all bowed their heads slightly when Aru strode to stand in the center.
Kiaan stood in front of all of them, looking as bold as ever, and, if she was being honest, a little scary.
"Good afternoon," he started, looking down at them.
"As you know, the president has assigned the heir on a mission to spy on the Black Dragons. He has specifically ordered some members of this division to go with her."
"I had already sent a message to Black Dragon, and they accepted. They have a little test for people who want to join. I don't know what it is, but you have to be prepared," said Kiaan, pacing back and forth.
A test? thought Aru. That didn't sound so good.
"They said you can go next week, so I want all of you prepared, because who the hell knows what their test is," continued Kiaan.
He stared at them with a burning gaze, and Aru saw out of the corner of her eye that some of the people cowered. She herself even looked away from Kiaan.
Then her stomach sank. What was the test? Would it be super dangerous, or kinda just like the Sorting from Harry Potter? Aru really hoped it was the second one. And even if she did pass the test, what would she even do after?
"Dismissed," said Kiaan.

A week later, Aru was with the others, leaning on her motorcycle, getting ready.
This was it, thought Aru. She was about to go to Black Dragon's territory.
She haven't seen anyone all week, because she had been locked in one room, training and training and training. She hadn't slept that much either, wondering what will happen every night. Aru's hand went to her necklace, her mind beginning to turn.
Then, they had finally reached their destination.
