"Hard to get and hard to forget"

——

I slammed my locker shut, as I turned around to leave when I bumped into the last person I had wanted to see. Ace Reid. I lifted my shirt up to cover the love bites he had left behind, looking at his neck it seemed I had left my own on his.

"Excuse me." I said before walking past him, I can feel him behind me and it made butterflies erupt in my stomach.
"Look, Crystal I thought about it. Why don't we be friends." I paused and turned around, my eyebrows narrowed at him. Remembering when I had offered how angry and rude he had become, and here he is offering me his friendship.

"Ace-"

"Crystal." My head snapped towards where I heard my name, only to see Cathy wavy and making her way before she realised who I was talking to her and steps became slower and her eyebrows arched in curiosity.

"I'll talk to you later." Ace said before walking away before Cathy even reached me, I sighed watching him walk away. I turned towards Cathy and smiled at her.
"Why was he here?" She questioned as if she was interrogating me, I wanted to tell my bestfriend. I hated hiding this from her. We had been friends since the beginning of secondary school and now we were in college.

"Can you come down to my condo later, I'll explain everything." I watched her nod her head ever so slowly, I heard the bell ring indicating first period. Connecting my arms with hers as we made it to Religious studies together, walking in my eyes landed on Ace. I had forgotten he was in this class with me.

Settling down in front of him with Cathy beside of me, she began to tell me of the date she had been on with one of the guys on the football team. Having Ace so close to me, made me fidget in my seat. I was barely listening to Cathy as I could feel his intense stare in the back of my head.

"Are you listening?" Cathy asked, I gave her a guilty smile making her roll her eyes playfully.
"Sorry, now my ears and eyes are on you." I said making her let out a low laugh, before she continued.
"You missed yesterday party, it was so packed that neighbours called the cops. The party got cut short, but William Jenkins is throwing a party on Friday after school. Do you wanna come?" She asked, I thought about it and realised I had nothing better to do.

"Yeah sure, it would be a good distraction from the art project coming up." I said even though that was only partly true I was hoping this would distract with from Ace, what happened during my weekend was still clear in my mind.

"Don't remind me I got paired with Stella Mcdonald." I cringed at the mention of Stella, she was the schools cheerleader which meant she enjoyed to make people feel low and that she is better than them.

——

I sighed in relief as the bell rang signalling the end of school, as Cathy and I made our way out of the school building I saw my driver parked not far away from where we were walking.

"Let go, the drivers there." I said pointing towards the black Mercedes', Cathy followed me as I opened the door and got in with her following behind.

"I am so glad college is over for the day, another hour with Mrs Collins and I would have just slept on the desk." I laughed as Cathy complained. Mrs Collins was our geography teacher who pretty much ignored the part where she should engage the students and instead made it incredibly boring.

"I agree." We both laughed as the car came to a stop in front of my condo, getting out I thanked the driver before walking inside the building and into the elevator.
"It's been a while since I came here, nothings seemed to have changed." Cathy said looking around the elevator before it stopped at the level where mr condo is. Walking out I made it to my condo before unlocking it.

"So what was it that you wanted to tell me?" She asked as she settled down on the sofa, throwing her bag on to the ground and making herself comfortable.
"You have to promise me to not over react and keep this between us." I said lifting my pinky finger towards her.
"I swear on my pink teddy." She said lacing her pinky finger with mine, I smiled before settling down beside her and playing with my fingers nervously.

"Don't tell me your a lesbian, and Ace found out before me." I rolled my eyes at her, which only made her laugh which I later joined in.
"If I was you'd be the first to know, but no that's not it." I said, I combed my fingers through my hair not realising this would be so hard to say.

"Well remember last year when I mentioned I was attending a wedding?" I asked, Cathy turned her body so she was facing me. Her legs crossed in an Indian style, before she nodded her head.
"Yeah I remember. You had disappeared for a whole week after that." She said to which I nodded my head.

"Well I ended up marrying Ace Reid." I said, I waited for her to say something or anything but instead she just stared at me dumbfoundedly.
"This is the lamest joke I have heard." She said making me sigh, I did not know telling someone the truth would be considered a joke.,

"I'm not. You know how I've always had a crush on him, so when I got told I had to marry him I was excited and agreed straight away, I assumed he would want this marriage but I realised how wrong I was when I stood in front of him saying my vows." I hadn't realised a silent read escaped until Cathy reached and wiped it away, the look of concern was evident in her eyes.

"So why did he approach you?" I sighed and nodded at her question.
"After we got married, we went on our honeymoon and he had declared that he did not believe in this marriage and that we would continue to live separately as we did before we go married. I agreed not wanting him to feel suffocated in this marriage, on Saturday we had gone to his parents for dinner on the way back i had offered him friendship which he rudely denied. I got so drunk that when he appeared being drunk one thing led to another and we had sex." I paused feel her placing her hands on my own and giving me a gentle squeeze.

"Do you need a break?" She asked to which I shook my head no, I had to get this off my chest.
"The next morning he called it a mistake, and I kicked him out. So he came today offering me his friendship." I completed I heard Cathy mutter a swear word before her nostrils flared.

"That pig does not realise what he has in front of him." She said making me feel a little better. I gave her a hug which she returned rubbing my back.
"I can cut his dick if you want." We both snorted before letting out a loud laugh rolling off the sofa whilst clutching our stomachs.
