"Being a wife is your choice not compulsion"
——
My palms clutched the side of the seat as if my life depended on it, my head pressed back onto my seat whilst I bit my bottom lips.
"I get this is important, like hell even I want to see my sister but driving this fast can only lead to two things...one having a huge accident and second dying and I don't want to be involved in any of them." I said hoping he would listen to me and just stick to the speed limit, after the call from his mother it was as if a sudden shift had been made towards his mood.
My eyes darted towards his steering wheel, I watched his hands clench and unclench as he drove.
"This is another level of suicide, Ace." I yelled once again, as I watched him over take a large van. I scream escaped my lips as we drove on the other side of the lane dodging all the horning cars that drove towards us.
He finally drove back on to the correct lane, but that did not stop the sweat of nervousness which was forming.
"ACE, are you listening." I yelled hoping to gain his attention.
"WILL YOU STOP YELLING, I AM NOT DEAF." He screamed silencing me, I flinched in fear never seeing Ace act in this way especially towards me."Well I would not be having to yell if you listened, driving like a mad man will not get us there any quicker." I shot back angrily, I held back the tears that was threatening to fall. I had so many questions which I wanted to ask but I kept it inside.
"You are just overreacting, if just let me drive and shut up we will be there in no time." He said sternly, if I was angry before I was fuming now."Well stop being selfish for once, I want to see my sister just as much as you but that does not mean I want to die." I replied back furiously, I heard him scoff as he snapped his head towards me and send me his world famous deathly glare.
"Selfish. Let's not forget she was my bestfriend and also the women I was meant to marry." He said angrily, I could tell his words were thrown at me in order to hurt me and he had succeeded in doing so."We'll tough luck, you married me." I shot back hiding the fact that his words had hurt me, the last thing I wanted was to show him my emotions.
"And that is my biggest mistake." He yelled as he slammed on the breaks and I realised we had made it to the hospital, I looked back at Ace his eyes were closed as if he realised his words but he could not take it back after he had said it.This was the real him, I was wrong. I thought we were getting somewhere, the friendship and the date. I shook my head opening the door and getting out, I let my tears silently roll down I quickly wiped it.
"Crystal....I-I didn't mean it." I heard him say from behind, making me stop on my tracks I turned around and let out a low hurtful laugh.
"No, your right Ace. Maybe this marriage, this friendship and that date was all a mistake." I said and did not wait for his reply before entering the hospital.——
I approached my sobbing parents who hugged each other, when my mother saw me she pulled away from my father and hugged me.
"She's awake, sweetie." I could hear the happiness in her voice, I wrapped my arms around her."I know mother, she's going to be fine." I said as we pulled away, she gave me a small smile and nodded her head.
"Have the doctors said anything?" I questioned my parents who shook there head, I looked around to see Betsy and Charles sitting not far away."Betsy, Charles." I greeted them, I watched Betsy stand up and wrap her arms around me.
"She will be fine." My mother in law reassured making me give her a small smile, I had waited for this moment since a year."Family of Callista Moore." I instantly turned around and approached the man dressed in the doctors white apron, my parents beside me and Charles and Betsy behind us.
"I have good news and bad news, good news is that Callista is now out of her Coma and no longer in need of a ventilator support. However, with the trauma she has suffered when she went through the accident she has become temporarily paralysed but with the help of our physiotherapist and we will ensure to give you the best results." The doctor said, my father gave him a weak smile before placing his hand on his shoulder thanking him.
"Can we see her?" I stiffened hearing his voice, it seemed he had appeared whilst the doctor was talking. His words still fresh in my mind, which pained my heart. It felt like he had stabbed me with a dagger right in my heart.
"Of course you can, beware though that she is unable to move or talk, but she can hear you. She is able to make small movements with her fingers that will be her way of communicating, try to not stress her too much." We all nodded our head agreeing to him, we watched as the doctor walked away. We all stared at the room we had came many times but this time we had hope, maybe this was not what I was expecting but it was enough for me.
I twisted the handle and pushed it open, Callista laid her eyes wide open but she stared into nothing, her hands by her side as the machine beeped beside her.
"Callista, glykiá mou, moró mou, ángele, chaíromai polý pou eísai xýpnios." My mother said rushing to my sisters side, she held her hand and we watched as my sister closed her palms around my mother giving her a gentle squeeze this made mothers eyes tear up as she pecked the cheeks of Callista.
"Callie, your so lucky to be awake prom is in a few months you can wear your short sexy dresses and I promise I will let you dress me however you want." I chuckled grabbing her hand, again like my mother she gave me a gentle squeeze. I brought her hands to my lips and gave her a peck.
"There is so much we have to talk about." I continued, it was the moment we heard a bang making our eyes turn towards Ace who looked at us. He had dropped a bottle on to the floor and shattered it into pieces.
