GWEN'S POV:
Peter swung us back home and I cursed at myself for taking off my web shooters. As we swung onto the top of the building and onto the fire escape, I started thinking about how best to approach Matt before he came after us.
He is the only other guy I've been with since Peter, and he'll be pretty hurt by all of this. Even if we swore we'd just be friends after that night, I'm not so sure either of us lost feelings.
His contact hadn't been called or texted in over 3 months, and it had been about half a year since we dated, or whatever I have to call it. That doesn't change the fact that I love both him and Peter in different ways.
Peter hopped into his suit- literally, pulling it up his legs and bouncing into it a bit as he pulled it up. I pulled on the legging-like black and green [ again, AU version] suit, strapping up the Velcro around my neck. I tugged on my mask around my hair and turned to Peter. He had my webslingers in his extended grip, offering them to me.
I took them and slid them on, then launched myself onto the fire escape and climbed up to the building's roof. Peter was not far behind me and he perched himself beside me. "Where to?" he asked, facing me.
I shook my head in the general direction of Matt's street and sighed. "Follow me," I said, launching myself into the cold air.
Peter launched out from behind me. We swung from building to building and I crashed to a stop atop the Daily Bugle. "Woah, are you okay?" Peter asked me, crouching beside me. I just lay there, pulled my phone out of my pocket and took off my mask. "Here, give me a minute." I said, clicking on the phone icon on Matt's contact, which read "Good Lawyer >:)".
"Hello, Gwen?" Matt's voice answered. "Hey, Matt, so I don't know if you've seen the n-" I started tentatively. Matt gave a long sigh and I could hear a bottle opening through the receiver. "Bring him. I'll call Stephen and we'll work something out. He needs to be gone." He barked.
I winced and averted my eyes from the sky. "No need. I'll pick him up, I'm by the Sanctum Sanctorum anyway." I mouthed quietly. He sighed again and started an apology but I wiped a tear from my eye and hung up. I pulled back on my mask and sniffled. Peter gave me a look but stood up beside me and we launched our way to the Sanctum Sanctorum.
When we arrived at the door of the building, it opened and Stephen was sitting in a chair in the corner. He looked up and looked back at his newspaper. "Oh, hey you kids." he responded, not acknowledging the fact that Peter was new.
"Mr. Stephen, Matt and I need you to help us with him, we don't really know how he got here." I said, waving at Peter.
"Oh, must I? I know how he got here, I just don't know how I'm going to fix it. But yeah, let's consult the lawyer-by-day-vigilante-by-night guy that went to Harvard, shall we?" He smiled, getting up from his chair. "I'll meet you at his place." He said, disappearing before our eyes.
"Well, that was Dr. Strange." I chuckled, walking out the door of the large building. Peter followed and we webbed the remaining distance to Matt's house, where I had not been since November.
"So is Dr. Strange his real name?" Peter asked as we swung closer. I laughed a bit despite my dreading going to Matt's, and shook my head. "Yeah, can you believe it?" I smiled.
We finally got to Matt's street and I paused on his roof. "Listen, Peter, there's some things you should know about Matt that you might not already know." I sighed, covering my eyes with my hands. "What is it?" he asked, sitting next to me.
"Well, for starters, you already know he's blind, but that caused him to have really good, like, superhuman hearing. So he can probably hear us now, if he wanted to. And second," I groaned, " Like 6, 7 months ago we dated for like, ugh, I don't know probably 2 months. So it might be opening a fresh wound to see us together. So just, um, tread lightly." I said, wincing.
Peter shrugged and smiled. "That's okay, I don't blame you for moving on. I would have too, but you know, I don't exactly always have time for showing off my amazing skill and strength, huh?" he said, laughing sarcastically. I smiled weakly and we climbed down the wall into Matt's apartment.
Stephen and Matt turned to face us and I removed my mask and held onto the back of Peter's so that he didn't take his off. "Hello," Matt turned to us- well, mostly me, his blind eyes searching my figure that was revealed by the skin tight suit, as if it was a piece of his memory that he had long forgotten.
He held his hand out to Peter, who took it graciously and Matt introduced himself. "Matt Murdock, attorney at law." He said with a smile that I saw straight through. When Matt figured out that this is Peter, he'll stop at nothing to get me back again.
