There were four guards with them, two in front and two behind. The girl was in front of them as well. "This was a very bad idea, Darra," Aiden said quietly. "These are your people, Aiden. Give them a chance," she said with a smile. Raven glanced back at them, "You would not want to know your father, your birthright?" Aiden's eyes slitted toward her, "I haven't needed him as yet, why should I now? Because he runs a kingdom? I'm not impressed. He may be my blood, but I do not know him, and he has no allegiance to me." The guards stopped and Raven turned to a closed door, opening it. "These are your suite of rooms, unless it is not to your liking. That door there is to your fathers' suite of rooms. And that door there is where the Mistress Darra will be staying," she said brightly. Aiden grumbled but leaned toward Darra and butted his forehead against her shoulder a few times. "I'll see you soon," he mumbled as she ruffled his hair. He stepped into his room and let the door close behind him. Raven then showed her to her suite of rooms, mere feet away from both the king and Aidens rooms. Once they reached the door two guards broke off and continued down the hall, the two guards remaining stood to either side of her door. "This way," Raven said opening the door. Raven stopped a little way inside the door and waited. Darra walked pass her and stood in the middle of the front room surveying her surroundings. After a few moments she felt movement by her side and found the girl reaching out to touch her hand. Darra turned and grabbed the girl's wrist covered by the sleeve of her blouse. "I think not little one. Curiosity definitely killed the cat. That is way too much power and knowledge for you. One day I may allow it, but not today," she smiled. Darra released her wrist and allowed Raven to step back. "I'm so sorry," Raven whispered. "It's alright little Raven, I'd be curious too," she chuckled as she walked towards the window. "I've never met a vampire before, but you are not what I expected," she confessed quietly. Darra turned her head to the side, "Why is that?" She wrung her hands nervously before putting them in her apron pockets, "You travelled all the way from your people to return a wolf child to his. A wolf prince no less. I was always told that vampires were cruel, cold and uncaring bloodthirsty lot. You seem to be none of those things. You haven't shown your fangs not once since coming here!" Darra laughed out right and turned to look at the girl. "I had no idea that's what you thought of us, my great grandmother sure did a good job of destroying our image. Let me clarify a few things, I didn't travel from the vampire kingdom. I came from my home; I haven't seen my kind for nearly a century or so. As for my fangs, we were always taught never to show them unless we felt threatened," she grinned mischievously, "Are you threatening me little Raven?" Raven blushed and smiled, "Not at all. I believe I've disturbed you enough Mistress Darra, I will take my leave now."
Mathus frowned severely as he watched his cousin pace back and forth, like a caged animal, before the massive desk in his council room. He realized that the king was in a downright foul mood, enraged even. A little strange considering the circumstances. He had to say something to break the silence, it was getting tense in there. "Sire, your son has returned to you. Is it not cause for celebration," he asked? Garrick stopped and turned slowly to glare at his cousin. "Cut it with the 'Sire' crap! As your cousin I'm well within my rights to challenge you to combat, as your king I could do far worse for that display in court," he snarled. Mathus blanked his face, "I know not what you mean." Garrick snarled and stepped right in his face. "You put your hands on her! She came in peace AND returned my son to me! I care not what she is, only that she has done me a great service," he barked. Mathus studied his cousin noting that his eyes were an even brighter shade of amber than usual. A sign that he was a hairs breadth away from changing. He'd seen this before, in the soldiers that were mated. "Look at yourself Garrick, what is this woman to you," he asked seriously. Garrick glared at the mirror across the room, seeing the state he was in he tossed his head like a true wolf before starting to pace again. When he felt calm enough to speak again, he leaned against his desk. "Since I first laid eyes on her my wolf has been going crazy! I am finding that I'm quite attracted to her, almost obsessively. What is this," he growled. Mathus sighed and scrubbed a hand over his face. "What you're experiencing is the pull of your mated one," he said grim-faced, "my threatening actions did not help matters apparently." Garrick frowned, "My mated one, now after so long? And a vampire at that, it sounds a little unreal." Mathus shook his head, "Looks like you're about to be up shits creek with no paddles." Garrick leaned back on his desk and looked to the ceiling. "Why is that" he asked his cousin. Mathus arched one bushy eyebrow, "I believe I heard her correctly when she said she wishes for death."
