Perfect life, away home

I can't say I didn't enjoy my time away from the mansion. I started my studies in Boston, even If I had the opportunity to study back in Gotham University, a part of me wanted a time-out from the lies everyone said to me at the mansion. Fortunately Tay and I went to the same college and took a lot of classes together, at least those related to teaching. She wanted to be a social studies professor and that does not work well for me. I enjoyed the science classes the most, specially chemistry. Once I got to my second year there I met Jake, he was all I needed.

Jake was a year ahead of me, and was studying to become a science teacher as well. I met him because I was looking for a physics tutor, which is the subject he enjoys the most. I used to have a hard time understanding physics at first but with his help I got the hand of it. Once it wasn't hard for me to actually understand the physics problems and the theory we started to hang out occasionally, studying separately but keeping the company.

"Wanna have a drink with me tonight, we aren't hanging out as much as we did before" Tay complained to me with a pleading voice. "I know, I have been studying a lot lately, sorry" I answered while putting the books inside of my backpack "but, I think we can go to Kris' bar today". Tay immediately smiled to me, she knew she got what she wanted. "Well, this is our last class today, so let's get going!" she practically dragged me with her, walking fast through the busy Boston streets.

I looked at her amused, we got to the bar in less then 10 min. "Ok, you can stop running at last" I said a little annoyed, but at the same time I wasn't mad, only a little bit tired. Once we got to our usual table Tay started with her pretty much planned questionary for me "So... how's Jake doing?" she looked at me over her foamy beer. My cheeks started to heat up and turned red. "I fucking knew it! Finally." she commented with a goofy grin. "Oh! Come on, I haven't said anything! I can admit he's cute but we're only friends... at the moment" I said smiling, Jake was the first person to catch my attention after Richard Grayson left my life and I was openly admitting it to Tay for the first time.

"You gotta spill the... Oh, hey! You're Jake aren't you?" Tay said looking behind me. I had my eyes wide open and hands were freezing and sweaty. "Yes, you are? Hi Ari, I didn't know you were here" Jake greeted me. "Yes, she's Tay, my BFF and we're regular costumers here". He stayed with us during the rest of the night and Tay was having the moment of her life with all of the teasing in a not so discrete way.

Once I closed the door of the apartment I shared with Tay, she commented how much she liked him and for once I thought I didn't have anything to complain about my life. The time went by and I started a relationship with Jake. It took me some time to finish my studies, I wanted to be able to teach science and Spanish equally. Jake fully supported my decision and Tay went back to Gotham once she finished her studies.

I started to live with Jake at the apartment I shared with Tay. I got a job nearby as a science teacher, big school, always busy. Little by little I started to build a life of my own, Rachel used to come by from time to time, she had a great time with us, we were such a happy family, even if I wasn't married.

Needless to say, I didn't want to go back to Gotham, I had all I needed there, in Boston, so I started to considered staying there with Jake and eventually it was my reality, I didn't go back to Gotham.
