                                                                 ACHILLES

I continue to squint up towards the gleaming, afternoon sun, waiting.

I turn my head over to the sound coming from the tree beside me. Bert.

"Thanks for waiting," he looks down. "I had to talk with Mr. Shultz for a bit about a project in another class."

Silence continues for a bit.

"So, about last-" he begins.

"Just forget about it, okay?" I blurt, not making eye contact, but instead looking over at the nearby tennis court.

I finally look over, suddenly confused by his reaction. His face is all scrunched up like he really wants to punch someone.

"I"m sorry but I just can't." he looks scared, but furious.

"I'm not sure what I saw. But, whatever it was, I can't just forget about it that easy. Whatever it was, it was not human..." I looks down at his fiddling feet.

I hate this. Why can't he just forget. I know it must be hard, but I can't have anyone, especially him, meddling in all this. I don't even know what is going on myself. This is so frustrating.

"Do you even know who your'e talking to?!" I snap out of frustration.

He continues to look at me, frustrated. Man. This guy is something.

I huff.

"Fine." I say. "Besides, I can't really make you forget anyway. It is  your own brain after all." I huff again.

He smiles. "You know I can help if you want! Only if you are fine with that. I know I am probably the last person you want to hang with, but I am being sincere here. I can see that it is hard for you. I'm willing to give you a hand, in whatever it is you need help in."

I smile. Y'know. This might actually be good for me.

I guess I'll give this little guy some slack. At least for now...

...

                                                                   CHLOE

"Thank you Mrs. L'Noe." I reply and she nods with a smile.

"I'll see you at the academic fair next Friday, I presume?" She answers.

I smile. "Of course! Wouldn't miss it for the world." I close her office door slowly and walk away down the hall of our school building.

Next thing I know, I look out the window facing the garden and spot what seems to be Bert and Achilles speaking to each other. Well that's new.

Maybe I should say hi? I shake my head. No way, I blush. Not with Achilles just sitting there, wind blowing through his soft, brown hair with the sun gleaming across his perfect tan face.

I think I just might have a crush on the scariest and least approachable guy in school.

I'm screwed.

...

                                                         ACHILLES

"Well, to be honest, I'm not really sure myself what I am..." I close my eyes and sigh. "I mean it almost felt like I was-"

"Your'e a friggin' werewolf man." My head shoots up at his, embarrassed.

A what?!"

"You heard me. Dude, your'e like a werewolf. I mean, I could be wrong, but...the fangs, the full moon, ..." He scratches his head.

A werewolf?! My heart stops for a second. Just what the heck is this kid thinking. Really? Is that truly what I am or is there more to all of this? I just can't help but think that I am more than what he is telling me. The lady in red, for example. I fuss with my hair.

"So, let's say that I am a werewolf, how can I make sure this doesn't get out of control next time. I have a baseball tournament."

"Not sure about that yet." His smile turning into a frown.

I look up to see that the sun is now almost gone. Man, it's getting late.

"How 'bout we discuss this some other time. I gotta get home." He nods.

"I'll see you tomorrow then?" I try to speak those words with all my strength.

"Ya." Silence.

Man, this is gonna be awkward...
