It's morning, after a night full of nightmares, I made a lot of strong coffee. I took a quick shower, did my morning hygiene, and dressed in clean clothes.
"Lucas should get up if you don't want to be late the first day. I won't wait for you." I called from the bathroom.
Lucas has been my best friend since high school. His brother was my fiancé, but now it's over between us.
Lucas walked lazily and wearily into the bathroom, which I had to laugh at. While I went to the kitchen.
To understand Lucas and I are firefighters, today we start at the new station 51. He on Truck 81 and I on Squad 3.
"You have coffee on the table." I shouted towards the bathroom.
"Thank you, Case." Lucas told me as he entered the kitchen. "We should go now, right?" Lucas asked as he finished his coffee. I looked at my watch and was almost terrified. We should be at the station in twenty minutes, which is so. Still with morning traffic in Chicago.
"Yeah, we have to go if we don't want to be late." I said and headed for the door, where I put on a black leather jacket and sneakers. I took the car keys.
I walked out the door with Lucas behind me and went to our car.
I drove out of the parking lot and across the morning streets of Chicago. I stopped at the red light. And she waited for the green light to come on.
On the green, I drove straight across the crossroads.
"Case watch out!" Lucas shouted. I looked to the left to see the truck rushing at us. I added gas, but the truck struck us in the back of the car.
At that moment, I lost control of my car and crashed into the railing of the bridge. Lucas flew through the windshield over the railing.
I got out of the car and ran to the railing to see Lucas clinging to the ledge. I reached out and grabbed his hands.
Meanwhile at fire station 51: nobody's pov
A new shift was just beginning, and everyone was gathered in the kitchen or, as someone called in the common room. They all sat at a table, on a couch, or stood by a coffee machine.
"Casey, Severide, looks like new members aren't coming." Otis said, standing on the couch across from the lieutenants.
"Truck 81, Squad 3, Ambulance 61. Collision of a car and a truck. The number of victims is unknown." said a voice on the loudspeaker.
They all quit their activities and ran to the garages.
At the scene of the accident: Lavoi's pov
"Lucas, you have to stay conscious, do you hear? Help is coming. All right, just talk to me." I told him I don't even know how long I've been standing here holding him.
I can already see firefighters and ambulances arriving and getting out of their Trucks.
Just as they run to us, my body is transported and Lucas and I fall into the water.
When I fall, I accidentally let Lucas down and focus on falling. After hitting the water, I rise above the surface and catch the air.
I look around and try to find my best friend. After an unsuccessful search, I dive and search underwater.
The next time I emerge, I will be grabbed by two strong arms. I'm just trying to find him.
"Hey, hey, calm down, it's okay." a man's voice tries to calm me down.
"No, no, I have to find him, I have to find Lucas." I say and start panicking. I continue to fight with strong arms.
"Look, they're pulling you out of the water now, and I'll find him, I promise." he says again in a reassuring voice, and I didn't even notice that he strapped me to the harness until I was pulled out of the water.
