Two days have passed like water and today I have my first shift, which I agreed with my boss Boden.

As soon as my alarm clock rang, I ran out of bed like a bullet, took a quick shower, did morning hygiene, and dressed in sportswear. Since I don't have a new car yet, I'll run to the station.

I had breakfast, took a bag of clean clothes for the shift tomorrow. I went to the door, where I took black and white shoes and door keys. And she set out. It is 10 kilometers to the station. My shift starts at 8 o'clock and now it's 6 o'clock and 30 minutes.

I ran the way to the edge of town, which is longer. After an hour, I ran to the station. I came in and saw a few people sitting at Squad's table.

"What did you do to be so sweaty?" Lieutenant Severide asked.

"You know, Lieutenant, I don't have a new car yet, after a car accident, and somehow I had to get here. Now excuse me." I said and went to the washroom, where I took a quick shower, made a messy bun out of my hair, and put on firefighting clothes.

I went to the kitchen and poured myself a cup of tea. And I went to sit at the table. I went through some social networks before someone sat down.

"Hi." someone greeted me and made me lift my head from the phone.

"Hi Sylvie, isn't you?" I asked because I don't remember all the names yet.

"Yeah, so how's the first day?" she asked with a smile.

"Nothing's happening yet, so good." I said and she frowned.

"Look, don't talk about it or it'll get worse." she told me and then smiled.

"Ambulance 61, Truck 81, Engine 51, Squad 3 and Battalion 25. Family house fire." the dispatcher announced.

Everyone ran out and Sylvie shouted at me. "You see what I said." they all got in their cars and set off on the scene.

At the fire

"All right, Truck 81 searches the ground floor and Squad 3 the second floor." Chief Boden gave the orders.

"Mouch, Otis, go to the roof and make a vent. The others come with me." Lieutenant Casey ordered his team.

"Capp, Tony, east side of the house and Cruz, Lavoi with me on the west side. Put on your masks." our lieutenant ordered, and they all ran into the house.

Cruz and I, Severide, searched the west side.

"Firefighters, call out." I shouted.

"Help, help me!" someone shouted from the back.

I went there. "Where are you!" I shouted again.

"Here I am." a voice shouted. I slammed the door of the room and saw a woman with a child. "Help my baby." she said, handing him over.

"I'll get you out, both of you." I shoved the baby under my jacket and gave the woman my breathing mask. And I slowly let them out.

"Everybody out." a voice came from the radio.

"We're on our way, leading a woman with a baby." I reported back and went down the stairs. I let them out and started coughing as I inhaled the smoke. I handed over the woman and the child to the paramedics.

"This was the last time!" the lieutenant raised his voice to me.

"What exactly?" I asked.

"Don't give anyone your mask." he said warningly.

"You never did, Lieutenant? She inhaled a lot of smoke, needed oxygen." I said, crossing my arms over my chest.

"I won't deal with this with you, we're leaving." he said and we all boarded the Squad and we drove back to the station.

We all sat at the table and ate lunch before we had another call.

"Halstead, Atwater, what can we do for you?" said Chief Boden.

I lifted my head from the table and saw a black man. A man I trusted and never wanted to see again. Before anyone could say anything, I got up and walked through the other door.

"Case, wait." Kevin called after me, but I didn't respond.

Fire Station 51: Atwater's pov

Everyone looked at me with a look, "Do you know her?" or "What did you do to her?"

"So what was that?" Sylvie broke the silence.

"We have a common past." I said and wanted to go to Case, but Jay stopped me. "I need to talk to her."

"She doesn't seem to be with you. I'll talk to her." he said and followed her.

"So what's between you." Severide asked with a smirk on his face.

"Nothing now." I said and left to wait for Jay in the car.

Fire Station 51: Halstead's pov

I don't know what happened between them, but I'm interested.

"Fuck, shit." I heard from the bathroom.

"Hi, are you okay? I need to talk to you." I said and made my presence known. She jerked and turned.

"Yeah, okay. What do you need to talk about?" she asked, smiling.

"About that car accident. I'd rather inform you that it wasn't just a car accident, it was caused on purpose, we found a truck on the edge of town. And now it's going to be investigated as a murder. You don't know who would want you dead?" I informed her and watched her body movements and facial expression. They made it clear that they were afraid.

She looked at the ground and said. "I don't know, no one is attacking me." I know she was hiding something, but I don't want to push her.

"Truck 81, Squad 3 and Ambulance 61. Mass car accident." the dispatcher announced.

"Okay, could you come after the shift to sign the statement? We'll ask you a few more questions there." I said.

"Yeah, I'm finishing at 8 am tomorrow." she said and ran out of the bathroom.

I got back in the car to find Kevin. "She was afraid and frightened, she would come to the station tomorrow, so we'll try to get something out of it."
