Our shift ended the next day at 8 in the morning. We didn't have many exits, they had Truck 81 and Ambulance 61. Once we went to rescue the family from the car, to the fire, to the gas leak and to the drowning.

Now I'm standing in the locker room changing into black skinny jeans, a beige loose sweater and white sneakers.

"Everyone at Molly's tonight, we're celebrating the first shift of a new family member." Hermann said, wrapping his arms around me.

"What is Molly's?" I ask and everyone starts laughing.

"It's the bar I own with Hermann and Dawson." Otis said.

Everyone agreed and then we all went out.

"Don't you want a ride?" Severide asked me as he put his arm around my shoulders.

"Yeah, that would be great, thank you." I told him with a smile.

We went to his car and drove off.

"Where do you live?" he asked me as we stood at the traffic lights.

"Oh, please for the 21st district. I have to sign my resignation because of the car accident." I said as we drove off.

We spent the rest of the trip in silence.

"So here we are, should I wait?" he asked as I got out of the car.

"No, I'm not far from here. Will you just send me the address from that bar?" I said and nodded in response.
I closed the door and went to the building.

"Hello, I came to sign a car accident statement." I said to the older lady, who was standing at the table in front of the front door.

"Who handled this with you?" she asked, not even raising her head from the papers.

"Detective Halstead, I think." I said, watching the older lady.

She raised her head, looked at me, and pointed to the bench. "Sit over there and wait." she said, and continued to work on her papers.

I sat on the bench and waited for about 5 minutes before someone approached me.

"Miss Lavoi. Come with me." Detective Halstead addressed me, and I followed him up the stairs and through the gate.

"I don't want to be rude, but I thought I should just sign the resignation." I said as he led me into the interrogation room.

"Yeah, but we need to ask you a few more questions. Wait a minute here, I need another detective here." he said, I nodded and sat down in a chair.

"How long will it be?" I asked, hoping it would only take a moment.

"Do you want coffee or something? You look awful and it's going to take about an hour." he said and looked me in the eye.

"Please have coffee." he just nodded and left.

I hope he doesn't bring Kevin with him. I don't want to see him or talk to him at all.

Detective Halstead entered the room with a cup of coffee in front of me, and another detective, who was browner, had black hair and an earring in his ear.

"Thank you." I said to Halstead. "Casey Lavoi." I said to the other detective.

"Detective Antonio Dawson." he said and I shook his hand.

"So we can start." Halstead asked, sipping my coffee and nodding.

"Then tell us what happened the day before the accident." Dawson began.

"Well, it was a normal day, only that day we were supposed to get on 51. We drove and stopped at the red light and when the green light came on I started and about halfway through the intersection Lucas shouted at me 'Case beware' I looked in the direction where Lucas looked. " I paused and wiped away the tears streaming down my cheeks. "I saw a truck crashing at us, I added gas, but the truck struck us in the back of the car, and at that time I lost control of the car and crashed into the bridge railing, and Lucas flew through the windshield." I sipped my coffee and looked at the detectives, who were listening intently and waiting for the next thing I said. "I ran out of the car and ran to the railing, and I saw Lucas holding on to the ledge, grabbing his hands and holding him. When the fire department arrived, I drove over and fell into the water, I didn't hold Lucas during the belt. Then I was pulled out and examined by an ambulance, and then I saw Lucas being pulled out of the water, performing a heart massage, and covered with a white blanket. Then they took me to 51, and then I went home. " I finished and wiped my tears again at the memory of Lucas.

"Okay, can you think of anyone who wants to kill you?" Halstead asked.

"No." I said too quickly and ran a hand over the end of my eyebrows. Another detective entered the room, more precisely a woman with brown hair. And she whispered something to the other detectives. And then she left.

They looked at me. "If you're scared of someone, you can tell us." Dawson said softly.

"I'm not afraid of anyone." I ran an eyebrow through my hand again, focusing on the detectives in front of me.

"Well, how do you know Kevin Atwater?" Halstead asked, the only one who knew we knew each other.

"It's in my past, he has nothing to do with it. Are we done? I'm really tired." I said, but I didn't realize exactly what I was saying.

"One last question and I want an honest answer. If Atwater has nothing to do with it, then who?" Dawson asked, swallowing dry and blinking. I was honestly wondering if I could tell them the truth.

"Um. His name is Jerremy Chambers." I looked at my hands. "He was my fiancé, but now it's over." I got up from my chair, rolled up my sweater, and showed them the big scar. "He did this to me, but he can't go to jail because he has bipolar disorder and so he wasn't charged." I said and sat down again.

Then they let me go and I could go to my apartment. I went straight to bed and fell asleep right away.

The ringing phone woke me up, and I reached for it and picked up the call.

"Hello." I said in a hoarse voice and sat down on the bed.

"When are you coming to Molly's?" someone on the other side asked.

"Um, who's calling?" I asked, lying back on the pillow.

"Kelly Severide. When are you coming to Molly's? We'll all be here in a minute." he said and I looked at the clock. 7 pm.

"I'll be there in half an hour." I yawned and hung up.

I took a quick shower, got dressed, and set off. It's not far from Molly's, so I'll be there in a minute.

I entered a cozy bar through a dark wooden door. I looked around and headed for the bar.

"What can I offer you?" Hermann asked me when he saw me.

"Hmm. Three times vodka and Mexe-tini cocktail." I said and looked around the bar. I saw most of the 51 people and a few detectives.

"Do you want to get really drunk?" I nodded. "Here you go." he handed me a coaster with four glasses. I smiled gratefully.

"Thank you." I said and went to the table where everyone was sitting.

"Nice, are you going to get drunk?" I just nodded and drank all the vodka I had.

I was already standing in front of the bar and someone was supporting me. We were both pretty drunk. We got in his car and drove. We reached someone's house in a few minutes. He helped me out of the car and we went up the stairs to the apartment.

He closed the door behind him and turned. We stood very close. We looked into each other's eyes before I stood on tiptoe and kissed him. His hands fell on my hips and he kissed me back. He picked me up and I wrapped my legs around his hips. He went somewhere in the apartment until he laid me on the bed...
