There were maybe half a dozen clouds in the sky during Jennifer and Devin's funerals, but the strong winds prevented the sun from bringing the temperature above 40 degrees. When the service was over, Camila stood under a tree looking at her phone. She was wearing a simple black dress that went down to her knees. Looking up, she watched as Mia kissed Kristen goodbye, then walked over to where Lea and James were talking to Arnold. After a short discussion, they got in Arnold's police SUV and drove away.
Hearing footsteps, Camila turned and saw Jason walking over to her wearing a similarly simple black suit and pants.
"Can we talk later?" He asked.
She shrugged. "Depends. What about?"
"Lea."
She turned to face him. "I've got time now."
He put his hands in his pockets and looked down. "I've been doing some thinking." He looked up at her. "We both care about her. I want her to be happy, and I'm pretty sure you do too."
She nodded. "Yeah."
Jason sighed. "If you want to be with her, go for it. I'm dropping out of the metaphorical race."
She blinked. "¿En serio?"
"Yeah. I've seen her look at you the way she looks at me, but I've never seen her look at me the way she looks at you." He scratched the back of his head. "Look, I um, I don't buy into the idea of soulmates. The way I see it, she has a better chance of living a happy life with you than she does with me." He held up a hand. "I'm not saying she couldn't have a happy life with me, but still."
Camila pulled him into a hug. Surprised, he hugged back.
"You're sweet." She said softly. "Lea's lucky to have you in her life."
He closed his eyes and rested his chin on her shoulder. "I'm really sorry, but it's about to get weird and I can't stop it."
She rolled her eyes and kissed his cheek. "Relax, Bloodbath. You're not the first guy to get a hard on when I hugged him." She looked up for a moment. "First time it's happened at a funeral, though."
He pulled back. "Look, Camila, I-"
She cut him off with a kiss. Shocked, he hesitated for a second before wrapping his arms around her and kissing back. He quickly got lost in the moment, and he wasn't sure how much time had passed when she pulled away.
"I'm sorry." She said softly. "Did I make it weird?"
Jason blushed, but a moment later Camila burst out laughing.
"Relax." She said once she stopped. "I'm messing with you."
"By kissing me?"
"No, I kissed you because you're hot and I might not get another chance."
"Then why did you stop?" He asked, looking down into her eyes.
"I'm sure I had a good reason, but for the life of me I can't remember." She kissed him again, and when he kissed back, she slipped her tongue into his mouth.
Jason's hands found Camila's hips, then her ass, which he squeezed, making her gasp. She felt him moving her, then her back was up against the tree. After making out with him for a good minute, she hooked her left leg up around his waist, and he started kissing the left side of her neck.
"Mark me, Jason." She moaned.
He sucked on her neck, leaving a purple bruise.
"Oh yeah..."
