My whole childhood I struggled with being a black girl. And to be honest, even today as a woman I have to constantly reprogram my thoughts. After years of hammering me that I wasn't enough, that I didn't fit the standard of beauty.
But that was a lie, which is why I decided to write my own story; dear black women, we are warriors with indestructible will. We fight back when they want us invisible. We princesses of the swans, goddesses of Nubia, reflections of our ancestors.
When society tries to pit us against each other; light skins against dark skins, let's remind them that every shade of our skin is divinely crafted.
So let's reclaim our power, let's walk through this world unapologetically, heads held high and diplomas in hand.
Because, dear black girls you are everything.
