III. ENEMY

He gained more information from Vera than he'd anticipated. She was such a coward, all he had to do was light a small spark and she'd tell him everything. Perhaps part of that was because you weren't too close with her anymore. With that being the case, though, he didn't understand why you told Vera anything.

You had fled to Morepesok after stopping in your old village to apologize to Vera for various things. Apparently, it was much more than insulting her, but she didn't go into detail and he didn't care. When you returned, you brought an Anemo Vision with you, and you told her what you'd done to Signora. Vera, feeling paranoid by all this being dumped onto her, didn't want to leave her house in case one of the Harbingers went to her in order to find you. He inwardly grimaced when she said that.

It didn't take long to get there; only a couple of hours. Though, that was because he was using electro to aid him in traveling. He did know that Childe originated in Morepesok, which made Scaramouche suspicious that he had something to do with the holding of information. Then again, it could've been pure coincidence, since as far as he knew, Childe hadn't visited his home village in quite some time.

He was lucky he wasn't agitated enough to kill Vera when he was with her, because she actually gave him the exact address you told her. At least her memory was intact, unlike her bravery.

As he walked to the house, he tried to decide what approach to take. He could do the same thing that he did with Vera, but if you had a Vision, you'd have a vastly different response than she did. And you were willing to kill Signora, so archons knew how unhinged you could've been. On the other hand, he could've destroyed the building or at least wrecked it somewhat. That would probably get things done quicker, and he really just wanted to be finished.

Or he could show up, act nice the entire time, and then spring a surprise attack on you. But if Vera had expected him, then surely you would as well.

Ajax wasn't with you because of some guest who showed up, saying they needed him. He didn't let you know who it was, so you were slightly annoyed with him, but you let him go anyway. It seemed urgent. It was dark now as you pressed your hand up against the window, observing the stars that littered the sky. The night was still slightly grey, and of course, the snow was still falling. The moonlight brightened up your room a little bit, but it remained gloomy.

While looking outside, you caught a glimpse of Scaramouche and gasped, instinctively pulling your hand away from the window. By the way he dressed, he looked... important. You hadn't seen him before, but assuming he was a Harbinger, you ran from the window and grabbed your Vision, clipping it to your belt.

"₱ØØⱤ Ⱡł₮₮ⱠɆ Ɏ/₦'₴ ₲Ø₦₦₳ ĐłɆ ₮ØĐ₳Ɏ."

"I-I'm not gonna die," you whimpered. "I c-can fight him."

"₩Ɇ ฿Ø₮Ⱨ ₭₦Ø₩ ɎØɄ'ⱤɆ ฿Ɇ₮₮ɆⱤ
Ø₣₣ ⱤɄ₦₦ł₦₲."

"I'm not!" You hissed, your breathing becoming heavier by the second.
