VI. DECAPITATION

Aether agreed to take you with him and you were ecstatic that you finally had people you could call friends after so long of being alone. The lack of interaction was starting to get to you. That night, you set up camp on a beach that resided on the edges of Narukami Island. Aether didn't tell you much about himself, even with all the questions you asked, but you hoped he'd eventually trust you enough to share.

As the boy threw a few sticks into the fire, he glanced at you and his eyes trailed down the large, dark purple scar that trickled down your neck to your chest, where it was concealed by your clothes. He returned his gaze to the flame.

"Would you mind if I asked how you got that scar?"

Your eyes widened at the thought before you grit your teeth. You hated thinking about that day, but that was what shaped the rest of your life and how you progressed. You detested what happened, but because of it, you were finally able to become strong.

"₮Ⱨ₳₮'₴ ⱤɆ₳ⱠⱠɎ ₩Ⱨ₳₮ ɎØɄ ₮Ⱨł₦₭?"

"I think that's a story better left untold," you said with a frown.

"Right, sorry..."

You didn't like how he had taken control of the conversation, so you clapped your hands together and smiled, startling both him and Paimon. They looked over to you as you scooted across the log to sit closer with Aether, your shoulder now touching his.

"So... Mind telling me what happened with your sister?"

"Hey!" Paimon yelped. "That's way too personal!"

You boredly stared into her, "...Well, asking about my scar was personal, too."

Signora's whispers lingered in your ear and your expression pulled into a deeper show of frustration until you realized it.

You forced out a harsh breath, throwing on a warm smile, "So? Tell me and I'll tell you how I got this scar."

"...I'm not that curious about it," Aether said, leaning away from you.

"Aww," you pouted. "A shame..."

"гРɎØɄ ⱤɆ₳ⱠⱠɎ ₮Ⱨł₦₭ ⱧɆ'Đ ₮ɆⱠⱠ ɎØɄ?"

"No..." You muttered.

"Ⱡł₳Ɽ."

"What?" Aether asked, furrowing his eyebrows in puzzlement.

"Oh, it's nothing. Just thinking," you responded. "Anyway... tell me about yourself, Aether."

"Okay, um... What do you wanna know?"

"ɆVɆⱤɎ₮Ⱨł₦₲."

You narrowed your eyes and smirked, "Everything."
