The small crowd that had formed around us cheered as we pulled away. His eyes locked with mine for a few precious moments. But as soon as he snapped our of it he grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the club. We stood on the sidewalk waving a taxi for us.
"Where shall I take you two?" the driver asked with a little Indian accent.
"Take us to the nearest chapel! We're getting married." answered Chris cheerfully. He never once let go of my hand. He clutched onto it as if he was scared that I would run away. Which even if I wanted to I couldn't. I was way too drunk to even realize what was happening.
The Taxi came to halt in front of a little white chapel. Surrounded by what seems like a little Park. Chris got out of the car and came to my side to open the door for me. He paid the driver and wasted no time by pulling me right inside the chapel. An elderly woman sat at one of the benches right in front of the altar. She turned to us as we stumbled into the chapel.
"Hello how may I help you?" she asked with a very sweet voice.
"We want to get married." I said. Impressed that I could open my mouth and figure out some words.
Chris just smiled at me and nodded in approval. The woman stood up and came to us.
"Alright, follow me."
We walked behind her into what seemed like an office.
"You need to sign some papers for me. and I'll go and find our priest."
She handed us a few documents and motioned for us to sit down in front of the desk. I looked over theses documents and started signing them. Chris did the same. I stumbled across the last question and looked up at Chris.
"Hey do you want me to take your last name?" I slurred a little.
"Of course. Carrie Evans sounds nice doesn't it?" I nodded. Too drunk to really process what was actually happening.
The woman came back and took the papers and our ID's to confirm everything.
"Well you two, Priest Peterson is waiting in the Chapel for you two." She nodded and gave us a warm smile.
Chris and I got up and stated our way back into the chapel itself. I was almost a little scared. being in that gorgeous little Chapel walking up to the altar, down the aisle. But I hadn't enough time to overthink anything because Chris took my hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze. We came to a halt in front of the priest. The elderly woman sat down again on the bench she was sitting at before.
"Well, lets get you married then." he looked at both of us.
"We've gathered here today to celebrate the Love of these two people. God made them match and they decided to give their love into gods hands by committing themselves to marriage.
So I ask you Caroline, will you take Christopher to be your lawfully wedded husband, to cherish him and to love him, in sickness and in health, till death does you part?"
I looked into his eyes. They were sparkling with some much passion and what seemed to be love that I couldn't think twice.
"I do."
"So I will ask you Christopher, will you take Caroline to be your lawfully wedded wife, to cherish her and to love her, in sickness and in health, till death does you part?"
He didn't even blink.
"I do!"
"So do you two have rings?" the priest asked.
"Oh shit we totally forgot about those..." Chris kinda looked sad about the fact but the woman interrupted us.
"Wait I have some." She stood up and approached us. She took off two rings from a necklace she wore around her neck.
