Disclaimer: I do not own cover art, or Legend characters. The first chapter picks up right from the very end of Champion. The cover pic for this chapter is Samantha Barks, who would be a perfect "old" June, and played Eponine in Les Mis.

What should I do? What should I say? Logic June, logic. I can't hurt him again.
"So, you said you're off to Tess' ?" Day. Daniel says.

Even a sentence as simple as this can get my heart racing and turns me intojn the adolescent girl I once was.

"Yeah." Seriously, that's all I can say? I can't think of anything to say to him?

"Why don't we all go together?" Eden suggests.

Eden? Does he remember? Would he tell Day? Why can't I think straight? I clear my mind, and count to ten in my mind.

"Sure," I reply. One-word answers. This is what has happened to the Republic's prodigy. I've sunk to a new low. Tess! Sneaky Tess, but why would she do this to me after I've spent years trying to forget him. He remembers Tess, but he doesn't remember me. I can't deal with this again. Not again. I feel like a robot during the ride to Ruby. Asking Day, no Daniel about Antarctica and asking Eden about the engineering job at Batalla. I try earnestly to soak up some information, but all my thoughts run back to Day. At least the glare and glow of the train's Jumbotrons block the blush on my cheeks. What a stupid idiot I am.

Finally. Ruby sector. I want to sprint, clear my mind, but I force myself to focus and remember: it's their first time back.

"June! Happy Birthday! Hi Daniel, Eden, good to see you!" Tess babbles. She seems nervous tonight, but I think we all are. There's a certain stillness before Day-Daniel, decides to go ahead and talk.

"Hey cousin, look at you, all grown up!" Daniel says, and I can't help but feel jealous that he remembers Tess.

"Tess, need any help with dinner?" I say. I need to talk to her. Why oh why would she give to me for my birthday, meeting the person I can't remember to forget?

"Sure, come on," Tess says. As we go through the door, I greet Pascao. Daniel and Eden look confused when Pascao approaches them.

"Day, handsome as ever, what's up?" Pascao says jokingly. He's forgotten that Day lost his memory, so I nudge him. "Oh right, yeah. I'm Pascao." Daniel, Eden, and Pascao start chatting about the cadets at Drake and the point system in Antarctica. From what I hear already, Day has a higher amount of points than the President but won't accept a high-ranking job. Typical.

"So what did you want to talk about June?" Tess says innocently, like she's done nothing.

"Tess! What were you thinking? That he'd remember? That everything would be the way it was before? If you don't remember, last time he suffered because of me. He was pained, and I don't want him to have to repeat that! You of all people should understand!"

"I understand just fine, but June you shouldn't be blaming yourself." When we get back to the table, Tess serves a feast of roast chicken, rolls, pork edame.

"Wow, you really outdid yourself cousin!" Daniel of course, probably thinking of the days when it was just him and Tess, stealing, stashing, no me to ruin it. At the end of the night, Eden pulls me aside.

"I don't know why you aren't telling Daniel anything, but I have no right to say a thing. All I remember is you were introduced as a friend. I know you were more than that to him though. He draws now, says he draws his dreams. I have this one with me, I was hoping to ask Tess; but you might be the better person to see it, and there's a lot like them." He shows me a drawing. Of me. What does Daniel dream about, what does he see? Does he see the pain? Or does he just see love? Is he as lost to me as Metias?

"I hurt him once, I can't hurt him again." Be blunt. Simple. Logical.

"Ok, if you say so."

We go back to the table, everyone's saying their goodbyes.

"June, you live pretty close, right? Why don't I walk you home?"

"Sure Daniel."

"I want to get to know you better. I know this will sound crazy, but I think I remember you."

"Really? What do you remember?" Does he remember me? Is he back completely? My heart jumps with the thought. Maybe.

"When I woke up from my coma, you were there."

"Yeah...The Republic sent me to see if you were alright." I feel my legs getting weak, and the last thing I see before I black out are two, familiar blue eyes, one a tad lighter than the other.
