Carla Robinson
Hearing stories from someone's childhood and how they are such a loving family made the evening very entertaining. It wasn't until Elena brought up the subject of Xander's house, which I had rented.
"Why don't you move back in and live with Carla, son? Instead of living in a large house with only two girls, it would be more reassuring for her family to know that they are protected by someone "Elena's words hit both of us like a bomb that exploded out of nowhere.
"Mum! Carla is being bothered by your suggestion. How could you possibly allow a random guy to live with two girls? Her parents, on the other hand, would be more concerned." Xander appears to be wearing shield armour and firing back at his mother.
"Random guy? How could you say that when you're her boyfriend? "Elena makes a you're-ridiculous face at Xander.
Lizzy has a very mischievous look on her face as the two argue back and forth. Walter simply sat there, eating his food and not interfering with the conversation.
"You guys aren't in a relationship are you?" I heard a whisper. Then I locked eyes with Lizzy, who simply smiled back. She is aware of the situation. She can tell based on our interactions throughout the evening. We had a quick conversation and then sat down to concentrate on our food and Elena's story at the dinner table.
"We're not in a relationship," Xander answered the question that his sister had just asked me as if he could hear Lizzy whisper.
"If you're not in a relationship, how do you explain your holding hands and renting situation?" I noticed Lizzy is on the same team as Elena, and we're both at a disadvantage as we battle two formidable opponents.
"Not yet, I'm not planning on rushing her," Xander replied, and I gave him a cold stare. What the hell is going on here? This isn't the situation.
"Actually, I was nervous, so I wanted to hold on to him," I said half-truthfully, omitting the part about wanting to hold Xander's hand.
"That's fantastic; you'll get used to each other if you live together. You can also hold hands, kiss, or go a step further." Lizzy smiled at us, her face plastered with a grin.
I looked at Xander, trying to get him to understand that I was signalling him to take action right now. My signal, on the other hand, simply struck the side of his head and fell to the ground. He just sat there silently, refusing to fight or agree to anything.
"You should go interior shopping with Carla tomorrow. The house still appears to be in need of some work "Elena suggested, and I face palm myself.
The dinner end with us saying good bye to his parents and Elena promised to come over the day Xander is going to move back in.
Lizzy gave me an invitation for her show during Paris fashion week. I hold the ticket and looked at it over and over again. Still can't get my head around this sudden invite which is hard to get.
As we got back in the car, I wonder about what to say first.
"Why did you not deny or disagree to anything?" I question his action during the dinner.
"There's nothing to deny Carla, my mother won't listen to any explanation when she already set her mind on something" without Xander saying it, I already know Elena characteristic after spending a day with her.
I just want to know what Xander think or feel. Did he choose to stay silent because he don't want to have useless argument? Whether he can't disobey Lizzy? Or he feels some sort of emotions that I'm currently feeling?
I nodded my head at Xander's answer. The entire ride back home was filled by silence but a comfortable one where we just want to enjoy each other company. No words needed, just us sitting next to each other.
