Chapter 6 : At The Office

You sit in a cafe, tapping your feet as you stare at your schedule. It's gonna be very busy and it's normal for you to bring a friend with you to keep you company for a while. But, Prue is busy with a mission and Vernon is handling other business related problems

"Y/n, I was hoping to see you here" Stephen taps your table and you give him an awkward smile "Oh, hi" You offer the other seat at your table and he accepts "You seem nervous" He points out

"I uhm, it's going to be a busy day at work and I like to bring friends to keep me company. It helps me to not feel overwhelmed" You breathe out, giving the schedule another look

"Woah, you're fully packed" He jokes hoping to calm you down a bit

"Yeah, which is kind of bad since the two people I usually bring are busy..."

You take a quick glance at Stephen "Wait, are you busy?" You ask him "Well, not really. Wong, he's a friend of mine, decided that I could take a day off from defending the Sanctum" He leaned back "If you don't mind, would you like to hang around while I do my work?" You offer as he shrugs "Sure, I mean it is my day off. I wouldn't mind following you around for a while"

You begin to smile "Thank you!" You give him a quick hug before hearing your name be called out by a barista "Coffee for Y/n?" You run up to the counter and quickly pay before dragging Stephen out with you "Alright slow down" He chuckles at your antics

"I'm ten minutes late for a meeting, I can't slow down"

"What seems to be the problem?" You walk up to an employee "The machine is malfunctioning, we still don't know why" They shrug as they watch the maintenance team try to fix it "Maybe it's one of the hinges" Stephen comments pointing to a crooked hinge in the corner of the machine.

Someone fixes it and they open the machine "Would you look at that, it actually worked!" The employee exclaims in surprise

"Thanks sir" The employee nods before walking up to the maintenance team "Good job" You praise as you both walk away "If your employees took the time, they would've found it themselves"

"Don't you dare insult Jerry, they're the sweetest employee I have" You hit him playfully "Oh really?" He muses "Yeah! One time they came in and brought cupcakes for everyone, it was no ones birthday, it was just a normal day at work or something" You shrug as other employees walk by and greet you before going back to whatever they were doing

"Jerry even baked the cupcakes by themselves"

"Is this your tech facility?"

Stephen looks around at the equipment laid out on different counters "Yeah, I do a weekly inspection to see what the techies are up to" You walk over to a small group "Hey guys, got anything new?" You ask as Jack hands you a tablet

"You might want it" He plays a video of a scythe changing in different weapons "How the hell do you come up with this stuff??" You stare at the video in amazement

"Vernon suggested it when he was half asleep" Jack takes back the tablet with a light flush "Alright, get it ready you guys. I might need it" You hand them all fifty dollars each and they cheer

"Do you always do that?" Stephen walks beside you "Yeah why?"

"Can I have fifty dollars?"

"Do you work for me?"

You pull over near a dock "You own a dock?" Stephen stares at the sea

"Where else would I put the cargo ships?" You reply back as you walk up to another employee

"Hey Este, how's it going?" You give her a quick hug before she hands you a list "The list of companies were shipping out?" You look at her and she nods

"Ok, I'll check a container and we'll be on our way" You hand the list back to her as you go to one of the ships "I'm impressed" Stephen looks around

"Not really trying to impress you but thanks for the compliment" You hand him fifty dollars and he pockets it immediately

"Here's a Stark Industries container Ma'am" A crane brings a red container over and its opened up for you "Equipment, nothing bad really" You look over to the different knick knacks packed up in the container

"We also have a Mcdonalds container Ma'am" An employee points over to another container "What? When did we make that deal?" You rush over to the container in excitement

"It could be an ice cream machine" You mutter to Strange

"It is Ma'am" The employee smiles and you nod "That's good, I'll be back in two weeks ok? You better not be doing sketchy shit here!" You yell as you and Stephen leave the dock.

"Wanna grab some Mcdonalds?" You ask Stephen as you drive through New York

"I mean my work was over about ten minutes ago, but I'm sure you wouldn't mind eating?" You ramble

You look over to him "Sure, I could eat" He shrugs as you begin to think of a place to eat

"I think Mcdonalds is too unhealthy. We need to celebrate since we're basically friends now"

The light reflects the shine in your eye as you pass through city lights. Stephen stares at you, unknowing to the fact that he was admiring you

"Oh! I know a place, it's not that fancy but I'm sure you wouldn't mind" You turn to him, catching his grayish blue eyes "Y-yeah, that sounds great actually"

"Good, I'm sure they're already expecting us"
