"You need to go back home soon."
X broke the two-hour long silence, tracing the shape of a bee in the fluffy carpet.
"I know. What will the rest of them think though?" Grian stressed, wondering about what the other hermits were doing right now.
"I'm sure none of them will think any less of you. After all, none of them have problems with the Ender Dragon, so why would they have a problem with you?" comforted the bee-man, a question writhing at the back of his mind.
Finally, he plucked up the courage to ask it.
"Grian, why are you turning into a dragon?"
"I- I don't know! All I can think of is that I was using my elytra all the time so maybe I had a reaction to that?"
Another question.
"Did you know your parents?"
"Of course. I had two brothers, Phil and Dan, and my parents were always kinda mean to us."
"Are you sure? Since there is an old legend of the Dragonborn, who looked like humans with dragon wings. They mostly evolved in two separate ways: either into Endermen or Ender Dragons. Most of the latter died out or ran away. Some Dragonborn survived though, and it was said the royal bloodline was preserved."
Silence. And then…
"Xisuma, do you think I'm a Dragonborn?"
Grian sounded scared. Of course he did. Dragons terrified him, and the thought of being related to them made him shiver. He couldn't be a Dragonborn, right? His parents were normal human beings and so were his siblings. Weren't they?
After all, he countered himself, his family wasn't exactly stereotypically normal. Phil had beautiful black raven wings, Dan could move at faster speeds than anyone else, his father always seemed to know what would happen next, and his mother…
His mother was normal.
Everyone had always thought that Grian would be the same. Just a normal human child with no special abilities.
It finally dawned on him.
He was adopted.
