I spent my wedding night in the hospital, waiting for my husband to me and tell me that his daughter with his former side piece was born. The writers of General Hospital would be calling me any day begging to borrow this for a storyline.

I had gone home and changed out of my dress before coming so at least I wasn't sitting here in my wedding dress because that would've looked even more pathetic than I already did.

When morning came and there was still no baby, my mom and Linda joined me. I could tell that Linda was trying to keep her excitement at bat out of love and respect for me and I appreciated that but watching her almost vibrate was making my heart ache as much as it would if she was bouncing off the walls.

I had been going on sixteen hours of waiting before Ransom came out, a huge smile on his face. We all stood up as he jogged over to us. "She's here. She's here, she's perfect and she looks just like me." He says.

"Well hopefully she grows out of that." I joke as Linda jumps and squeals, hugging him. I smile but it doesn't quite reach my eyes and I have to step back for a moment, my mom following. "Mom, what if I'm not strong enough to do this?"

"You are. Wanna know how I know?" I nod. "You are your father's daughter. Stubborn and forceful. If anyone can figure out a way to make this work it's you because we didn't raise you to quit when things got hard. God knows your father and I didn't always have it easy, but we relied on each other and got through it and we were made stronger for it. You've been in love with that boy your whole life. Don't let this one thing ruin what you've fought so hard for." I nod, blinking back tears as she pulled me into a hug.

I pull back and go over to Ransom, wrapping my arms around his middle. "Congratulations hun." I say into his chest.

He smiles down at me. "I promise you, soon it'll be our turn." I smile and nod.

"Does she have a name?" We ask.

"Her name is Paris."

"Paris James?" I ask. It could've been worse.

"She's actually allowing her to have my name, so Paris Drysdale." I smile but in my head I'm plotting how I'm going to sneak into her room to deck this bitch. I'm sure she only did this to have something else to hold over me.

"They've taken her to the nursery. Do you want to see her?" Linda jumps at the chance and my mom and I follow slowly behind them.

He points her out to us and I'm amazed by just how much this newborn looks like him. My mom's frozen heart about the situation is thawed at the sight of the baby and she joins Linda in cooing at her through the window.

Ransom pulls me to side, his arm firmly around my waist as we watched our moms. "I'm sorry this puts a hold on our honeymoon." He apologizes.

"It's ok," I say looking at her. "Somethings are more important."

"Hey," he says and I turn to look at him. "You are the most important thing in my life. She's a close second but you come first. I feel like I'm making all these promises with no way of knowing if I can keep them but I wanted to promise you one more thing. We will get the honeymoon you wanted. The actual one and not what you had to settle with because of this whole mess." He vows to me.

"Ok. I'm holding you to that." I say as I hugged him.

...

It had been three weeks since Paris had been born and Ransom and I have had her more than her mother has. Ransom was getting worried because Laurel was acting more and more distant from Paris, appearing to be completely detached when he would go over to pick her up.

On the day that Paris turned a month old, Ransom got a call that night. We weren't supposed to have her then but it hadn't become uncommon for us to end up taking her on nights when she should be with Laurel. I couldn't complain though. I was already in love with this little girl.

He finds me in the kitchen after he gets off the call. "What's wrong?" I ask.

"Laurel's gone. She dropped Paris off with the attorney and then left."

"What?!"

"I don't know. He needs me to come down to the office."

"Let me throw on my shoes and a hoodie and I'll come with." He nods and I take off to our bedroom: Laurel what have you done?
