The coast of East Anglia* * *
"Father!" Thorfinn ran through a field of wheat, his head barely reaching above the tall plants. He held a basket full of apples, oranges, and some berries. He had tasted the red berries and a concentrated, juicy taste filled his mouth. He filled the basket to the edge and ran for his father to show him the catch.
"Look what I found!" He held the basket high to show his father all the fruits he had found and received a soft pat on his head.
"Well done Thorfinn, you're getting stronger every time I see you"
Thorfinn grinned, flaunting his toothless mouth." But remember... "
"Hm?""...You have no enemies. There isn't anyone it's ok to hurt."
'Huh?' Thorfinn turned around to see his father full of arrows. He was slowly falling to the ground, seeming slower for every heartbeat. Thorfinn's heart pumped into his chest and he felt faint. He couldn't breathe, nor think, and least of all move.
Lightning struck through the dark clouds, and rain oozed down. Big and cold raindrops fell into his eyes as he cried over his father's death.

Thick water splashed into my face and I immediately jolted up. I could glimpse a person standing in front of me, but couldn't quite yet see who.
I noticed that I had been sleeping on hay all night and that my back hurt; I hadn't managed to lie down in time and fell asleep sitting against the hay.The person before me laughed a little, a light voice. Only one person I knew had such a voice; Daisy.
She was quite a wild girl and acted even more like a boy than some of the guys in Askeladd's band. Generally, we don't talk much about her gender because she knows I won't tell anyone, and so it isn't necessary either.Daisy's hair had started becoming longer, a crisp white colour framing her face. She had reminded me yesterday, of my childhood fantasy, and I hadn't been able to think of anything else since then. But seeing her now, I slightly regretted being so cold to her.
I put my foot forwards to get up from the unbearable position. My face was freezing.
'What did she think of when she splashed cold water in my face in such cold weather?'I turned to go inside. Not only had I fallen asleep while sitting, but it was also in the outside hallway room.
We had found a storehouse, so we settled down there for the night. This one, fortunately, had a fireplace inside so we could make some proper food before leaving."I'll go find some berries, you get on with the meat?" Daisy peeked inside the door.
Then she shut it before I could even answer. I took the chance to dry my clothes. They were soaking wet, and it felt as if I would freeze to death if I kept them on for even just a bit longer.I started firing up, and at first, it didn't burn very well. The fires lit up and died out just a second later. But after trying for some time I managed to stabilize it. I then put my clothes on a rack beside it and covered myself with furs.
The fire was nice and warm, something I had longed for a long time. The cracking of the fire against the howling of the wind outside was so relaxing and comfortable.
I barely managed to stop myself from falling asleep and put on my clothes. I could never sleep without my dagger on.I then remembered that I was to fix the meat, and dreadfully I got up from my comfort. A couple of birds I had shot down yesterday were dragged out of the backpack, and I plucked each and every feather before putting them over the fire.
The burning fire cracked against my closed eyes. A feeling of warmth filled me inside, but it only felt nice from distance. I knew what it was really like; The warm fire was in disguise from its cold-hearted nature, like if it tried to ask me for forgiveness by warming me up, but it didn't and doesn't regret a thing. If you go to close, you'll burn yourself, but if you stay too far away, you'll freeze to death.
